Disassociation Letter
by Hyghlandyr ina while ago someone posted some information about a letter he had sent to the elders.
it was in response to an elders call to him that he had a judicial hearing coming up.
the gist of the letter was that he wanted to know what the charges were, who would be informed of them, what corporations would have access to them, whether other congregation corporations would be informed, who all they would.

Really? I have only seen Kittery Maine in my genealogy stuff. Any Maxfields, Varneys or Estes in that congregation? My ancestors settled there, and in Windham and China back in 1740 or so. They were Quakers.
No Marilyn, none of any of those in either congregation while I was a JW. Most of the JWs around here were not originally from this area. My wife and I were among the few really local JWs at the time.
All three are common names in the area though.

Rumors that they spread about you. When you left.
by jerome infor some time now i have been reading numerous indivisual life stories relating to their experience with the jws and one obscure ( or at least not directly elabourated upon) detail keeps popping up.. it would appear that whenever a person leaves the organisation by da/df/ia that people take it upon themselves to start spreading "nasty rumours" about the person in question.. it always seems that so much of these said rumours that were frabicated and then propagated throught the local jw community that the poaster almost never seems to have time to goint any detail about what exactaly was said about them in detail.. i would like to invite the posters here on the board to shed some light on their experience regarding their reputation after leaving the kh.. it would appear that once disfelloshipped that the jw community must make it abundantly clear that the person is of absolutely deplorable character inorder to justify their inhumane treatment of the df'ed indivisual.
saying that there is no honourable way to leave the oragnisation this seems to be rather common place.. i am also informed that even if the df'ed person were permitted to return that their reputation within the jw community would never be the same due to the tarnishing of their name and the stigma attached to being df'ed.. i may not be entirely too shure about this one but it would seem that if while still in good standing should the indvisual to become "publicly reproved" or "marked" that this would also be an invitation for the local jw community to begin the same process of defaming the character of the person in question.. would anyone care to discuss your personall experience relating to any private information which became public knowledge after you left the jw community or any half truths that were deileberately propagated to tarnish your name in the vacinity of the kh.
and even worse yet blant lies that were imagined and promoted about you inorder to permanatently damage your character.. i would also be interested in who exactly you think were responsible for the iniation of these rumours.. was it the elders?

It would appear that whenever a person leaves the organisation by DA/DF/IA that people take it upon themselves to start spreading "nasty rumours" about the person in question.
I heard the rumor that my wife and I had broken up. My wife will occasionally run into an old JW friend and they often ask "So, are you and Bob still together?" as though it was expected that we were not. The reality is that leaving the org was one of the best things to ever happen to our relationship.
Also, in Dec 1999, I sent out 70 copies of a letter explaning why I left ans where I was spiritually to old JW friends in 5 different congregations. (The letter is on my website at http://home.attbi.com/~docbob1 ) Last summer a local JW called on the pastor of my church. When Stan mentioned my name, the JW said, "Oh, he left just so he could celebrate holidays." DUH!!!

True religion - anyone have a clue?
by Tin Man inwhat is the true religion anyone have a clue?.
i would love to know, if anyone does have a clue; being a witness most of my life it gave me this feeling like i really was in the true religion and god really was with me cause i belonged to the "true religion.. i have noticed that witness's say the elders were appointed by holy spirit, how do they know did they see it, it just dawned on me that all of it has been based on the premise that i had to have faith in what they say rather then substantiated facts; all of what they say simply put is nothing more then words, contrived by men only, if you tell them this you get the treatment like your going to be destroyed which is paramount to going and burning in hell.

One of the most important things I learned after leaving the Borg:
It's not about religion, it's about relationship.

How many trees is that then?
by dmouse inwhile most of the world not only express concern about the damage we are doing to the environment but also actively try to conserve our dwindling resources, especially natural ones, the society boasts of how much of our precious resources it squanders:.
17. jehovahs blessing is also seen in that jehovahs witnesses publish the most widely distributed bible-based publications in all history.
at the present time, 90 million copies of the watchtower and awake!

DocBob
Just for the Watchtowers and Awakes it's about 2,880,000 trees per years. Here's the breakdown
90,000,000 magazines per Month
X 12 months per year
----------------
= 1,080,000,000 magazines per year
X 32 pages per magazine
----------------
= 34,560,000,000 pages per year
/ 12,000 pages per tree
----------------
= 2,880,000 trees per yearI got the 12,000 pages per tree figure from a paper industry website.

I believe it was from the Plymouth Brethren that the WTS purchased the Brooklyn Tabernacle which later became Bethel. I will check that when I get home tonight.

I found this article in the online Boston Globe this morning:
http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/072/metro/All_faiths_question_handling_of_abuse+.shtml
The first two paragraphs read:
"The scourge of clergy sexual abuse has afflicted virtually every religious denomination: In recent years rabbis, ministers, and gurus have all been charged with molesting children.
Hare Krishna temples are filing for bankruptcy because of the anticipated cost of settling abuse litigation, and the Jehovah's Witnesses are facing a first round of lawsuits."
