  Y.C.- I am so sorry about your letter from your MIL. However, I have to say....at least she was very kind and dignified about it. My mother was harsh, unkind and everything contrary to the Christ-like attitude she professes to have. I only wish my mother's letter would have been that nice. Again, though, it's never easy being 'dismissed' as a family member. How can an 'organization' have so much control over your life?! So bizarre. Hang in there....we're all in this 'together!'

  What does DUB mean??????

  i've been wondering for a long time what dub means?

  could someone tell me so i can understand the threads a little better?

  I want to thank you all for the great posts & to some of you for making me laugh. I haven't slept in 2 nights, my jaw hurts because when I HAVE fallen asleep, I've been clenching my teeth together (stress is my guess). Today, when she said I am 'dead to her'.....I decided to take a few deep breaths and sit down and write a long letter citing scriptures and some of the info. I've found (and where it came from.....the society's literature of course). Thanks to a great friend, I have some great "PROOF" I can share with her. Even if I never send this letter......I feel it will be therapeutic for me to write it. I really hope that she doesnt' die mad at me ('do not let the sun set before your anger...."). Her health is getting poor. I feel in my heart that there is so much more to this than us being DA now. I think there is jealousy (as some stated, which is dead on with her), anger (at the fact that we have always had wonderful 'worldly' friends and she has no one but witnesses.) and further, sadly, it's a way for her to have more drama in her life which I think is necessary for her to function. She thrives on "Oh WOE is me!!!"
  

  So, I'm going to tuck myself snuggly in bed and have thoughts of sugarplums dancing in my head!!! Worldly_Andre......I know you can have fun with this one.......

  smartest reply yet. My mother emailed my sister today (who told my mom off about this whole thing) and her response was "NAME is dead to me".......wonderful christian & loving mother you think?! I won't ever have to worry about her seeing or talking to my children for she lives 2500 miles away and wouldn't dream of spending the money to see us. She'd rather blow it on bingo (yes, she gambles......don't you love the Pharisees?) and chinese food.

  I'm over it. I'm moving on. She's the one I have to feel sorry for. I thank Jah that he is so loving that he will allow ME to pray for HER. :-)

  Wow, what a loving 'family' JWD has. You know what strikes me as so funny? When we were in the org. that is supposed to be the most loving & non-judgemental faith out there.....we never received this kind of love and support. I can remember more often than not....going to a meeting and feeling 'worse' after I left. The cliques, the snobs.....just awful. I've developed more friendships being a non JW than ever before. Thank you all again for your replies and advice. I will heed it well. Your love & support is a true blessing.

  So, we left the org. back in December. I went & visited my mother in February & shared with her some of the research I had found. She was receptive at first but then became very uneasy & claimed that it looked like apostate literature (mind you, it was all from the SOCIETY'S LITERATURE......but, closed minds....you know!). Well, I had to tell her that we weren't going to meetings because she would have wanted me to go to hers while I was visiting. She didn't go to ANY of hers while I was there and I even told her to go and I would hang out at the house. She wouldn't. I don't know why. So, the first holiday we celebrated was Easter. Then, my kids' b-days all fell from May thru August. We celebrated those. Now every year, on each of my kids' b-days, my mom calls and wishes them a 'happy b-day.' My youngest turned 5 on Thursday of last week. Friday night, I get a phone call from my mom and she wants to talk to my daughter and wish her a "HAPPY B-DAY". The VERY next day, I get a GOD AWFUL email from her telling me she wants nothing to do with us any longer and will no longer accept any emails or phone calls from us. She told me we are 'apostate' and that she can no longer even pray for us to come to our senses. She told me that not only are my children going to 'die' in the near future but it's MY FAULT. The end of the email said "May Jehovah have mercy on you & your family.....you are truly going to need it." I have never cried so hard in my life. I was devastated. Even though a part of me expected her to react in a way that would cause her to keep her distance, I never imagined the knife going in and twisting the way it did from my own mom. I realize she has nothing in her life at this point (age 62) except for this faith and her only friends are within the org. but to disown your own flesh & blood over it? She was disfellowshipped years ago and she just recently had lunch with a WORLDY GAY MAN. Can you even fathom this?????? Everytime I read that email in my head, I choke back the tears. I mean, it's my mom & my kids' grandmother.
  I have sisters who were raised in the 'false' and left in their teenage years (never baptized) and my mom has attended many events they have had (birthdays included). She celebrated x-mas for years with my g-mother because my mom said "I'm an only child & you girls are her only g-children so I can't begrudge her of something she believes in and wants to share with us!" WHAT? Where is your dedication????? With that being said, she has always been one of the more 'lenient' JWs. But, since we stopped going, all the sudden.....she walks on water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What to do......how to react?

  Excellent everyone. I now understand DUB & Borg. DUB.....as in G. DUBYA (the pres). Makes perfect sense. The bOrg does too.....as my hubby is a trekky!!
