Most people are burned out on all organized religions
by free2beme ini know we always think and talk about how when we left the witnesses, we felt burned out on organized religion as a whole.
we felt it was caused by our time as witnesses, and the burn out we felt from knowing so much about other religions and our "suppose" knowledge on the bible.
here is the thing, since leaving the witnesses and talking to people who have never spent any time in the witness religion.

Yes
In fact when me and my husband talk about religion and he thinks it a big joke. He acknowledges a higher being but is unsure if current methods of spreading faith in him/her are the proper channel. Also coworkers have mentioned it too. But now that I think about it didn't we have a tract or brochure aaddressing everyone's dissatisfication with religion in general? Or was that conversation starter for field service?

LOL. No it didn't! lol
And I already told you I would tell him No. I guess I must got some good stuff (wink) because I know that if I told him not to do it, he wouldn't. It would not be a turn on for me. And yes I'd tell him no.

Are Witnesses okay with Fantasy Football leagues?
by free2beme ini was wondering about this, as fantasy football leagues are becoming big this time of year.
i have people i work with who live by these things, and even spend their entire breaks tracking information or text messaging friends to make changes.
it is not always about gambling, but often it is and in any case it takes a lot of time to work it.

I haven't talked with anyone about this, but my answer would be NO, it's not okay. They might start to have too much in common with "worldly" folks and something other than religion to talk about. I guess they could do it amongst themselves, but I could see this opening up a conversation with a worldly person who sees them send texts and making phone calls to their witness friends. Then a conversation between the two individual (JW & Worldly) would start. Next thing you know they are bonding and....BAD association spoils useful habits.
When it came to sports in general I remember them saying to be careful with being to involve in them. I don't remember any young witness boys getting together to play football or basket ball on regular basis The few times I did recall, it didn't seem to last long.

Are some people better off staying in the WTS?
by HalfWayThere ini read this forum alot.
though i don't post very often, i thought i would share the following thoughts.
my mother is 70, and lives alone (my parents separated and divorced about 23 years ago).

Just to clarify, I was not saying your mom shouldn't attend your wedding, only that I wouldn't bother her about the lies and deceit of the WTS unless she is asking. Which from what I read did not seem to be the case.

I think that the organization is all some people have. And though I am loathed to admitt, in cases like your mom's it might be better to leave her in the bubble than burst it.
So on that note I would probably leave her be. As long as she is still associating with you and you guys enjoy a good relationship, it may not be worth it to disrupt the peace. But I am a little upset at how your sisters are making her chose like this. Maybe you could talk to them (if they'll listen for a minute) and let them know that you are not trying to make her leave the truth and that you just love your mom and want a relationship with her just like they have one.

Can religion really overcome racial tensions.
by earthtone inin my experience it seems that although religion is suppose to unite all races, it rarely does, as in the case of jehovah's witnesses.. jw's are always talking about how they go serve where the need is great often among individual of a different nationality to help there "brothers and sisters".
they orchastrate international conventions to prove how much they love the" friends" regardless of their race.
they pride themself's on following the counsel of act 10:34,35 where it states:"for a certainty i perceive that god is not partial, but in every nation the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.

. JWs are as bad, but probably no worse than the rest of them. I think.
Right and probably no better.
