Batty, I think every state has it's own fine print. Something laws are slightly different from the next state, so this might be true for colorado, but different in IL

REALLY, Why Do People Remain Jehovah's Witnesses???

they are always afraid of displeasing jehovah god, the elders, the circuit overseer.
witnesses are always walking on eggshells, hoping that they'll be good enough to make it thru the great tribulation.

Very good topic...For me it was a little of almost everything that was said.
Fear of family and friends. The only one in my family who is Jehovah's Witness is my mom. If I tell her I no longer believe she would probably still talk to me but only after heaping ton's of guilt on me and making me feel less than sh*t for abadoning Jehovah. Since we are not the best of friends she is not the main reason why I kept going, even if it was occasionally. My best friend and her family are born in the "Truth" witnesses and they would totally stop socializing with me if I told them how I truly feel about the WTS and it's teachings. As it stands we barely socialize as it is, I'm inactive. But I love them like family
Laziness... soo true. I didn't excel academically nor was I encourage to do so since " getting a firm grip on the real life" did not include higher education. My first couple of years in high school I just barely passed and my mom did not really care at all. I had to decided for myself that I need to get it together if I wanted to make any kind of decent money.
I did think at the time I had found something special, ever lasting life is a powerful incentive to do what is told and I honestly feel quite disappointed that this is all a lie ( well be posting topic on this later... stay tuned)
So it was a combo of things for me.

there is an illustration (i assume of an anonymous israelite) vowing "i shall without fail give the tenth of 'it' to you" , at the point in the study where we are told that ornary folks gathered outside the temple when incense was being offered up.
(he has already given the tenth of something - "it's" running down the end of that phallic looking thingie.

I have never heard about this 8 dollars a week for the work. Who can tell me more about it. I can't believe they would ask for money after so many years of donations.
I remember my mother being proud that unlike churchs they (WTS) did not ask for money. Her favorite thing to tell people was that," if we relied on donations for the worldly people we would not be able to publish anything". Meaning they didn't give enough. But why should they, we ( JW) gave more than enough, sometime more the the tenth churches ask for.

Were the "Annointed" that got disfellowshipped still "Annointed"??????
by mama1119 inwhen i was a teenager we had these two annointeds in our hall, man and woman, very very gung-ho elder, pioneer type.
well, they had an affair for many years and then got df...i always wondered, if god chose them to be annointed, did he now reject them.....or did they just take a break, because as soon as they got reinstats they were partaking again?????
what was the official stance on that???
