During a rehearsal for the district convention a few years ago the DO told me I had to cut off my soul patch before the day of my talk. It was the craziest thing because we had been in one another's company at meals and mutual friend's house and he never said anything about it.

I know brothers that wear bow ties, which seem to be more attention-grabbing/seeking than a beard.

in conversations, an elder/relative would use disney as an example of a business that prohibited beards to help justify the wts anti-beard stance.

Anybody play videogames here?

my favorite games are fallout 3- played over 250 hours, black ops- played over 500 hours multiplayer/zombies, gta 4- played around 90 hours, pokemon ruby- played over 30 hours, pokemon firered- played over 30 hours.

i have modern warfare 3 but its kinda not what i expected, black ops was more fun.

what do you guys play?

Does anyone know how to find out if the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is investigating this as well? The EPA is a federal agency in the U.S. involved in environmental matters/regulation.

my wife has her co visit this week.

he has just been assigned to her congregation.

she mentioned he will only be with her congregation for 1 year.

My wife has her CO visit this week. He has just been assigned to her congregation. She mentioned he will only be with her congregation for 1 year. When I asked her why, she said that is what they are doing now. Has anyone else heard of this? The new service year just kicked off in September, is this a new arrangement?

this is a partial video of the morning breakfast table in brooklyn bethel in the late 80s, with lyman swingle hosting... the governing body member who at first tried to shelter ray franz from disfellowshipping, but then within a year or two his spirit was broken and he was a bitter man.. randy (i was there and it was death-dealing, like the death eaters from harry potter!).

"Does it thunder when God speaks today?" You have got to be kidding me! Where did these questions come from? Bethelites? Unbelievable!

(around the 11:45 mark) After talking to Jehovah and a lot of throat clearing, Swingle has a long pause...everyone at the dining tables is on the verge of picking up their eating utensils...stomachs are growling as they anticipate eating the meal sitting inches away, and at the very moment you think Swingle is about to conclude the whole tiresome affair, he says, "Its very good to see what's happening in Europe..." ...and then he's back to talking to Jehovah. Everyone was thinking, "Damn we're never going to eat."

Patterson Bethelites and Reassignment

i grew up in a family of jw's, i was never baptized.

i have two brothers who are elders, one is a bethelite in patterson.

I know a married couple that was "reassigned" from Patterson to a congregation in the last few months. Not much warning beforehand. Another relative of mine is at Patterson. He and his wife are worried especially after seeing what happened to the other couple. I too am a bit surprised considering the department they are in.

It is a tough economy and donations aren't what they used to be. The WTS is looking for ways to cut back. I think your brother should start preparing himself for living on an allowance while Special Pioneering. It is going to be tough. All of my friends that were reassigned in the last 3 or 4 years are no longer special pioneering, it was just too much and the allowance plus support from the congregations just wasn't enough. High gas prices, car problems, and all the other necessities of life are a hard pill to swallow after having all your needs taken care of for years.
