WTWizard and Gayle,
I think you said the same thing as I did, except you used different words. :)
yes, that's right, they really do not like people being able to read that book so they wanted links to it removed (it appears they have also been going after the hosts of the content itself as well).. unfortunately, i had to removed the links (which were dead anyway when i checked) and i'd ask that people don't re-post them (sorry).
i'm sure there are lots of alternative ways for those with the information to get it to those who need it.. here are the discussions on the book:.

The book is copyrighted. The distribution rights are the property of the WTS. It is probably a crime to copy it or distribute it without prior consent from the publisher. Such rights are important and should be respected. If one of us writes a poem, s/he is the rightful owner of that poem, whether or not it has been registered at the Library of Congress.
But there is also something called civil disobedience. Those who violate the righs of the owner of this publication do it for reasons that they consider more important than the legal and moral rights of this particular publisher: The book contains rules that are valid for the more than 7 million members of a specific organization, but the same members are denied access to a systematic collection of those rules. The organization claims that everyone is equal and that it has no clergy class, and still it has a secret book reserved for the pastoral class among the members.
Revealing the double standards of a self-proclaimed spokesman of God, and disclosing secret rules to those who are affected by those rules (even though most of the rules have already been disclosed by the publisher itself!), may very well be reasons for some of us to partake in civil disobedience. It can be compared to journalists who record people without prior consent and then publish the recordings. The approach should be avoided, but sometimes it is inevitable.
picked these up off the net.
didn't see them here so i thought i would post.. i really like the back cover to the new book, showing pictures of a car from the 30's with "jehovah's witnesses" on the side.
the pic of the guy in prison is beyond lame.. .

I found these at Jehovah's Witness News. Right-click and open the images to see original sizes.
just on first glance, it seems kind of antithetical to the jw mindset, doesn't it?
they are the 14th official religion of austria, which basically means they are legal or accepted(though i didn't know of any issues there previously).. .

Unfortunately, this official recognition also means that the Federal Office for Cult Questions is not allowed anymore to counsel ex-JW's, who until now have constituted their largest client group. For those who understand German: http://www.kurier.at/nachrichten/316903.php

where is the more recent article that says they are no more special than the rank and file...and should not receive any honor for being annointed?
The Watchtower, May 1, 2007 p. 31.
during the hour long symposium: empowered by holy spirit.
under the part "to fight temptation," a little dramatization of a young married man doing some work on his laptop.
he is tapping away when he suddenly slams his laptop shut.
Finally, he decides to turn his friend in even if it means losing the friendship.
Lesson: If you need to confide in somebody, find yourself a wordly friend.
in the town of ingelheim am rhein this week there is a "week of creation" (schopfungswoche).
there are exhibitions, discussions and other things happening.
one of the organizers is the workgroup "religious communities" (arbeitskreis glaubensgemeinschaften) of the local agenda 21, which is part of a un programme.
don't catholics embrace theistic evolution
The Creation Week seems to study the creation (meaning: the created things and the act of creating them) from a wide range of angles. It's more like a week of cultural activities touching upon environment, religion, nature and science. For instance, on Tuesday there was a debate on the ethics of biology: "What do we want to be able to?"
The articles did not make it very clear that this was part of a UN program so why should they know that?
We could assume that they know the nature of the forum where they are represented. :)

The thread title may be somewhat misleading, this is not about the WTS joining forces with other confessions, but about the R&F --- local youths and congregations --- engaging in ecumeny.
Quite right, and I am the guilty one regarding the thread title.
Still, it is rather strange that an entire congregation would do this. Such activities need planning, and I imagine the circuit overseer would have noticed something. Also, for the public debate yesterday the congregation used a scientist from the Max Planck Institute: Wolf-Ekkehard Lönnig. He is a Jehovah's Witness, and not just any Jehovah's Witness. He has served as an elder for approximately 30 years, and was even referred to as an authority in Awake! Sept 2006.
Which means that not only has the local Kingdom Hall of a small town done some very unorthodox things, but a prominent elder from a larger city (Cologne) has also participated.
The tours to the Bethel in Selters and the congress centre in Bingen could of course have been ordered just as unspecified tours. But if a local congregation is naive enough to participate in a Local Agenda 21 workgroup and in the Creation Week, then it would be somewhat surprising if they didn't also mention this while booking the tours.
But I guess we won't know until one of us phones the German Bethel and asks. This does indeed seem too unlikely.
