Apostate websites?
The WT Society itself has confirmed the pedophile problem:

OMG - I did it - I told my Mom and Dad how I feel...
by Princess Daisy Boo inmy mom and dad came round today and we ended up at the local mall with my hubby and kids having lunch.
after lunch my hubby went home with the kids and i stayed on with my folks to do some shopping.
as we were driving home, i pointed out my son's new school, and we were discussing the merits of private vs. public schools etc, and mom says "i just hope that by the time the kids get to highschool that the end has come, and you and the family are in the truth".. i mumbled something about having my doubts.

Mr. Flipper Talks with Bethel Legal Service Desk Rep About JW Child Abuse
by flipper inwell - i had been wanting to do this for a long time , to question a legal department representative at bethel about the child abuse settlements and jw child abuse, since last year when the news came out about it.
especially since my dad , an elder for years was never aware of it and has on his own taken steps to see that families with children are informed if a former pedophile is in their congregation.
i was curious as to what the current views and policies in place are .

Well, we here at Bethel didn't know it was going to be broadcast till the day before !
Perhaps they didn't know it was going to be broadcast on that particular day until the day before, but they did know that a news report was being made. The NBC article quotes (and links to) a media statement that the Watchtower Society sent to NBC more than a month before the news report was broadcast.

cognac:
So, if this had its fulfillment in 70 C.E. then Jesus started ruling then?Let's consult the Watchtower Library.
Knowledge p. 96, par. 15:
Prophetically referring to Jesus as “Lord,” King David said: “The utterance of Jehovah to my Lord is: ‘Sit at my right hand until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.’” (Psalm 110:1; compare Acts 2:34-36.) This prophecy indicates that Jesus’ rulership would not begin immediately after his ascension to heaven. Rather, he would wait at God’s right hand. (Hebrews 10:12, 13) How long would this waiting go on? When would his rulership begin? The Bible helps us to find the answers.OK, so let's read the Bible and find those answers. Let's start with Hebrews 10:12-13, that was just referred to.
When did Jesus start waiting? (Luke 22:69, Hebr 10:12-13)
For how long should Jesus wait? (Psalm 110:1, Acts 2:34-35, Hebr 10:12-13)
What is Jesus doing while waiting for this? (1 Cor 15:25)
Let's repeat: When did he start doing this? Was it in 1914? (Luke 22:69, Hebr 10:12-13)
Did his waiting end in 1914? (1 Cor 15:25-26. Was death brought to nothing in 1914?)
What will happen to Jesus' kingdom as soon as he stops waiting? Who will then become all things (including king) to everyone? (1 Cor 15:28)
Based on the Bible, is Jesus king during or after waiting?
Who is king today, and for how long has he been king? -

Questions about 1914
by Robman inhi my name is rob.
im glad that i was able to find this forum website.
i understand that 1914 (the day of jesus' return) was calculated through the book of daniel.

It's 607 because that is the year we get if we take 1914 and subtract 2520 years. We know this because the year of the fall of Jerusalem was alleged to be 606 until the exact moment when they also discovered that there was no year zero. (If they hadn't discovered these two things at the exactly same moment, then we'd have a short intermezzo of either 1913 or 1915.) In other words, 1914 is based on being 2520 years after 607, which is based on being 2520 years before 1914.

Watchtower Question from readers= Slams hunting??? Why???
by Witness 007 ineven though the bible does not condemn hunting watch them push their personal opinion and trun it into watchtower law.. watchtower dec 1 2007 p.31 "how should christians view hunting?
} "the bible does not condemn hunting or fishing.." {great leave it there..no need to push personal thoughts on brothers, right?
} ".....the apostles who were fisherman were likely gratified by a good catch.

Yet, there is no indication that they bragged about their prowess at fishing or hunting
Sure? My wife reminded me that they even counted the fish and recorded the amount in the Bible. John 21:11, NWT:
Simon Peter, therefore, went on board and drew the net to land full of big fishes, one hundred and fifty-three of them. But although there were so many the net did not burst.
Yes, the fishes are even recorded to have been BIG. And what about Luk 5:6-7 (NWT). If this isn't bragging, then nothing is:
[6] Well, when they did this, they enclosed a great multitude of fish. In fact, their nets began ripping apart. [7] So they motioned to their partners in the other boat to come and assist them; and they did come, and they filled both boats, so that these began to sink.
It's just natural to talk about what happened at work. People do that all the time. That's why they don't write about it regularly their diaries: "Today my wife asked me once again how work had been at the book store today, and I told her that I was happy for each and every of the 593 customers that bought a book." And that's also certainly why we don't find this passage in the Bible: "This same evening Peter asked John: Where did you buy that fish-hook? And John replied: The best fish-hooks cannot be bought. My uncle makes them, and truly I say to you: he is the best uncle you can find."

sir82:
Counterargument (long version):
"Yes of course the understanding of the Bible Students is wrong, based on what we now know. But at the time, they were the group that was closest to teaching the truth. Jesus selected them, not so much because they were completely 100% right on every facet of doctrine, but because they had the right heart condition and wanted to know the truth.A counter-counterargument could be: If a JW of today wants to know the truth, does lots of research, comes to believe something that the WTS will teach only in 20 years, and tells other truth-seeking JWs about his/her findings, how will the organisation respond to this truth-seeking heart condition?
Answer: This JW should be humble and wait on Jehovah.
But wouldn't this simply mean, regarding 1919, that what matters is not to have the right knowledge but to have the right kind of ignorance at the right moment? Don't know too much too soon? Is that truth-seeking?
The JW could here respond that this isn't about amount of truth-seeking heart conditions afterall, it is about being obedient to Jehovah's organisation. OK, then, when there are so many organisations with obedient members (e.g. the Bible students of today, otherwise they wouldn't have made it to 2008): How do we know that THIS is Jehovah's organisation? Well, because in 1919... -

Sorry - 1918/1919 again...
by Awakened07 inthis story of how jesus supposedly inspected earth in 1918 and as a result chose the bible students to be his people in 1919 (since they were the only true christians) is rather important to me.. we have discussed previously to some extent how they at that time believed a lot of things that jws no longer believe; for instance they still celebrated christmas and russel was the entire faithful and discreet slave.. however - the reason i raise the topic again, is to ask what things did they believe in 1919 that one could say would truly separate them from all other denominations?.
i guess they used the name jehovah.
i guess they didn't believe in the trinity(?).

JW's still believe they are God's only choosen channel on earth.
Yes, but they now believe that they were chosen only in 1919.

Well, at least in 1917 they believed that they had been chosen as God's channel of communication already from the start:
The WATCH TOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY is the greatest corporation in the world, because from the time of its organization until now the Lord has used it as his channel through which to make known the glad tidings to many thousands, which glad tidings the whole world soon shall know. (wt 1917/1/15)
And in 1921 they still believed that the time of the end started in 1799, not 1914:
"The time of the end" embraces a period from A. D. 1799, as above indicated, to the time of the complete overthrow of Satan's empire and the establishment of the kingdom of the Messiah. (The Harp of God 1921 p. 231)

I had a judicial once where I was told that I was in the situation i was in (having been touched up by a brother) because of the way I dressed!!
You should have told them that the brother didn't touch you. You touched the brother, because he was dressing in such an attractive and irresistible way.
