  African JWs Can Keep "Messianic" Attire Because It's There Culture!

  my mom went to the sunday meeting and a missionary that was formerly in the congregation was showing (boring) slides about the "work" in africa.

  when he showed some pictures of some witnesses, they were dressed in what he called "messianic attire".

  he told the audience that it was no big deal that they were being allowed to continue this style of dress by the society since it was merely seen as "cultural".

  Are the magic practicing priests from The Almighty or from satan? If you partake of the offerings to satan, you are therefore placing another above The Almighty God correct? If you use candles to ward off evil spirits are you not putting faith in a material object, or idol as you would know it?

  No disrespect Mr.E (aka his holiness) but are you out of yfm?! That must have been some crazy birthday party you went to.--LOL

  last night, i complete my class, and i get to my car and turn on the radio.

  the dodgers are losing 9-5, i figure it's over, but i listen anyway.

  1, 2, 3, 4 home runs later the game is tied, and i am pulling into my driveway.

  They bow to tradition, and even fashion, when it suits there purpose. A few years ago, it was the fashion in our hall and others in the area for brothers to have their heads shaved, or hair cut very short.

  When I was a JW there was a case in PA where two skinhead JW kids killed their parents. When I had my head shaved everyone, especially my parents, said it was a slap in the face to them and to the congregation to have this look. And as far as wearing that African attire, how can they pick on every detail and every trend and then let people wear this stuff. (nothing wrong with it, of course, in "normal" people's eyes)

  EV-ER-Y detail was examined. Whatever trend brother "I'm cool" thought he was up on was condemned. "That means you're in a gang" "That means you're ready for sex" ....So goofy it's not even funny.--mnky

  this was written and performed at the boston folk festival by a fellow samw (summer acoustic music week) student.. it is a week of music and joy that i now participate in every summer.

  it's amazing how many people share our (jwd) thoughts.. no toll in canaan .

  life as a jw is very...well...sheltered.

  many experiences are outright condemned.

  still, when others don't have specific rules against them, we more often than not, at least i did, choose not to engage in them so as not to stumble someone who would not approve.. very soon after my exodus from the wt i decided that life is an adventure.

  the rumor of him at one of his concerts asking all jw's to leave.

  It seems as though in these responses, as well as many others (including the ones I got), they usually say "Well, what else is there?" Or they'll say "Yes, it was wrong, but..." When the mindset is so "Oh well", what can we say to them? To me it seems very strange that no one takes these points more seriously. My guess is that the only way to see the real truth is to be separated from the hall for a while.

  i really don't believe much in the afterlife, but this makes me wonder.

  unless they are all plants in the audience, he is either a mind reader or is really communicating with their dead loved ones.
