PS- If you want to pull our leg and get extra attention with the "dying" thing in your subject title... at least spell it right.

I filmed a photography show back in Oct 06. The host of the show along with his his son (also his filming assistant) are devout Mormons. The Father is also a newly appointed Bishop (like a D.O. in JW-land).
I also truly believe that Christ's gospel has been restored to the earth today along with the ministering of Angels, the priesthood authority of God and the calling of modern day prophets to guide his children on the earth. Latter-day Saints are not asked to blindly accept anything that is spoken over the pulpit in our meetings. Rather, we are all expected to learn of their truth for ourselves by studying and ultimately praying for light and knowledge. And they do come.".....that said, the invitation is still simply "come and see." I would encourage you to go to a church meeting and see what it's like for yourself. I'd also encourage you to meet with the missionaries and discuss with them without the limitations of e-mail. Would you be willing to do either of these things? Let me know, and I can arrange for the missionaries to contact you."
**** Sounds a little too familiar...
But such beliefs are far more common than I realized when I was a JW. Muslims believe they are the true faith. As does the Pope, Seventh Day Adventists and many more including JW's.
Which is why I consider myself spiritual today, but not religious.
Nonetheless, the similarities of Mormons and JW's believing they are the "One True Faith", along with their determination to push those views on others were quite striking. -

Can someone give me a link/s of the Best of the Best blood discussions?
by middleman inhey yall, i think i finally learned all there is to know on the un topic.
now i really want to focus on the "blood issue" and how it's perceived by "the borg".
it's my understanding that taking in some of the blood "fragments" is now considered "conscience" and has been like this for awhile?

Above is a thread where many arguments are presented.
And below is a link to perhaps the most comprehensive website dealing with the JW blood doctrine.

I left the JW's primarily over this specific issue two years ago.
Hope it helps.
All the best,

What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?
by minimus inwhen i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".
so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

No kidding here. During the C.O's visit Before I was appointed as an elder, I was told by one of the "IN IT FOR THE POSITION ONLY" Elders, that whenever my family showed up to JW gatherings we did not bring enough food. No Joking, that's what he said.
We never missed meetings, all of my family commented at each meeting, nobody ever in trouble, went out in service TWICE A WEEK, (more than any other elder on the body), we all fulfilled our Theocratic Ministry School parts, arrived early, stayed late, had bookstudies in our house, always did the K-Hall cleaning, outside maintenance assignments, assembly and drama parts and more.
But Vinny would not be appointed this time because his family did not BRING ENOUGH FOOD when they showed up at local gatherings.
My wife and I were blown away to even hear it.
Then, on the CO's last Sunday meeting visit, after his talks, just when I was about to lay that SORRY-A$$ NEWS on him, he beats me to the punch and tells me the very same thing is what the brothers told him as to why I was not appointed that visit. He just shook his head but said I needed to follow the body's direction.
At that point though, the carrot was so close (eldership) I could just taste it. Sooo, I just made sure we brought loads of food each and every time we showed up. Sodas, baked dishes of food, doughnuts and more junk.
I was appointed the next visit. -

Here is a somewhat funny story.
FOUR of the photos on this home page are from my son and I, including the large main one. At least 12 photos or more on their website products have our images on them today. And many more from last year that sold out. They paid good money for the rights to use them btw.
It was probably a month or two at the most after I turned in my DA letter (over two years ago) when the owner (a JW elder) first contacted me about using my photos for his JW-only products. I thought about it overnight whether I should let him know that I was an EX-JW. But I also knew if I told him he'd nix the whole thing, plus I figured this is "business" anyway and who the heck are they to be so judgmental. -

Why are some atheists so pushy?
by nvrgnbk innvr,.
here is what i have observed about some of the atheists here.
as in the first example from this essay, this is to be expected if atheism is true.

No Bible = No God ???
by Sirona insomething has gotten on my nerves a bit recently.
there are numerous discussions regarding the validity of the bible which usually result in the following:.
* an exjw who has doubts about the bible concludes there is no god .
-
Vinny
I agree with your post to a degree Sirona. But I do not think such is the norm.
I have also stated numerous times that even if the bible were just a book of stories and nothing more, that I personally still see powerfully conclusive reasons to believe that the universe, earth and all life upon it are the result of some Intelligent Designing Force, or God, rather than through unguided, random series of events.
Some may believe if the bible is false then by default so is any kind of God. But most that reach the conclusion of being atheist, IMO, have done so for reasons other than just a lack of belief that the bible is inspired of God. Though I do not agree with those conclusions to be atheist, I can respect those reaching these conclusions especially if based on personal examinations.
And still many others just give up worrying about it altogether and just life their life not believing either way.
I have met all kinds on this site and in other places. There is no, "one size fits all" on this subject from my experience. -

Am I an idiot??? - ok, don't answer that... but, seriously... I've....
by cognac innoticed that i'm seeing all these things that i didn't see before... like when the wt or revelaton book states something, or when the bible states something... i mean, i never noticed this many things before... before, i noticed only a few major doctrine issues.
but, now, i'm noticing things all the time.... i mean, i'm trying to take a break.
i'm trying to not pay attention... but, they are saying things that really piss me off and i'm wondering to myself, what the hell was wrong with me... how did i not notice it before???

Vinny
They key question for you Cognac is are you willing to be patient enough to get hubby out. Do you (((love hubby enough))) to keep working on him too?
That seems to be the crux of the matter here, IMO.
If so, then just keep sending ideas, examples and critical information his way.
If you think your patience is running too thin to keep doing this song and dance then be a little more direct with him.
There is the tactical approach (like you have been doing) and then there is the more direct approach, which you may have no choice but to use now.
Remember this too; you can stop going to all meetings, you can even disassociate or be disfellowshipped; and if hubby is a true-blue JW, he cannot leave you unless you cheat on him. You are a ball and chain to him unless you mess around.
If you truly love him (as I tend to believe from what I've read), then you can still make your full stand against the organization itself. The treatment and shunning you receive just might turn the switch on in his own head. Which is exactly what happened to my wife. Had I just faded away, and not been so harshly treated afterwards, then I cannot say she would have been as affected. But she saw how I was grossly-unfairly treated, labeled, judged and shunned, simply for disagreeing with WT Society beliefs and nothing else.
That can be a powerful thing against the org.
If you have lost too much love and respect for hubby during all of this, then your journey with him (and as a JW) are probably at the end of the road.
An awful lot is riding on just how much you love your husband Cognac.
And only you can answer that!
