@Found Sheep: He's not GB. He the overseer of the Public Relations Department, or he was last I heard. He's a piece of work I tell you. The great thing is there are recordings of his brilliance all over the internet. I'm surprised he's lasted this long. Maybe he has blackmail pictures.

by reds inwas made aware that over 600 people attended a talk given at a local k hall.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Emotions get the best of us when we are down and vulnerable. You have quite a story! Looks like some things are sorted, and a new year is upon us for a fresh start. All the best.

J R Brown gave our memorial talks for several years just just I left and maybe a few more after. The congregation members were passed out tickets to get into our hall because he had a groupie following that would overwhelm the congregation that paid for his visit. So you had to have a ticket to get into the KH even for the regular meeting when he was visiting.
He has a condescending manner of speaking that I couldn't stand. Of course later after I left, I disliked him even more when I heard some of his comments by way of the WT Press Department.
Ugh. Cannot stand the man.

I went to a Unitarian Universalist Xmas eve service last night with a few exJW's. It was really beautiful. Lots of bells music, choir, singing, candle lighting. It's a whole new experience for me. Interesting group of people. The pastor said the santuary was filled with believers, unbelievers, and those in between. But for this night, no arguing on who is right. Very different from the thousands of JW meetings I attended in my lifetime.
It was really nice.

Hey I quit! I was wondering how you are faring on this holiday. Wish you a Merry Xmas also. We'll get together soon.
We went to a lovely Unitarian Xmas eve service. It was beautiful. There is a pic of us singing "Silent Night" on FB. I might do that again. The pastor was outside greeting everyone who came in. We introduced ourselves as the "exJehovah's Witness delegation." He just laughed.
Aude and I talked about having a exJcW Xmas party next year.

The past few days I've been thinking about how life has changed since leaving the witnesses. Except for just a few, my former friends have been completely replaced by apostates. Who would have ever thought...I sure didn't. Everyone i hang with now pretty much came from this board.
In a few minutes I am leaving to spend Xmas eve with Aude and an exJW family. A few days ago I had dinner with wha and his wife. I opened cards yesterday from apostates literally all around the world. In the past week I witnessed an exJW match between two people I introduced; they have been together ever since and are excited to make a happy Xmas memory to wipe away all the past crap ones. Makes me giggle very time I think of them.
There area lot more people and reasons, but I need to get going.
So thank you Simon and all for your work and time in keeping this board going from the bottom of my heart. Merry Xmas to you and your family, and to all the mods.

ok jw teaching aside, can you see a time coming when religon will cease to exist?
by highdose inpossibly this could happen in a dramatic sudden way or a slow burn but can you see the human race progressing to the point were they no longer need to belive in these myths and legends?.

From the absolute beginning...bronze age man created worship from nothing... I guess. It's what man does. The rituals and celebrations are what humans enjoy. Don't think religion is going anywhere.

What is your favorite TV Christmas Specials?
by I quit! inmy all time favorite is "blackadder's a christmas carol".
-
Dagney
(waves to I quit! How ya doing? Good on you for having your celebration...)
I'm not in the groove with the Christmas Specials...yet. I'm curious about "Blackadder," have no idea what that is. I like Charlie Brown, still like "Wonderful Life," "Christmas Vacation", and always play "Elf" (love it) and "Love Actually."
Oh yes, "Miracle on 34th", any "Nutcracker." I think I'll be home this time so I'll see what they have going.
