Actually, the last DC I went to in LB, I brought things to do. I wrote letters and cards, discreetly did some reading, anything to not hear it. I think some of the friends left and had drinks at some of the close by watering holes. Stupid religion.

I thought Mick was great. He was charming, funny and a good sport. The singing wasn't great, but the music was, IMO. he cracks me up.
my jw sister was over tonight for supper and after a couple of glasses of vino she told me that "today's watchtower study was bullshit" and that one of the 'elite elders' made a comment that bothered her a great deal.. he was apparently at bethel not too long ago and "one of the big-wigs" who was giving a talk said "don't be afraid of dying for the truth brothers" and this jackass was stupid enough to repeat this at the meeting.
it bothered my sister a great deal and i said to her: "soooo are they going to start passing out the kood-aid or what?
" she knew exactly what i was talking about and she said "ya, i wondered the same thing.

On the other hand, it's the fear tactic they've always used. I was thinking the other day how dysfunctional it was to be raised being told as a kid that we wold likely be in prison after religion turns "on us.". We were taught how to disguise ourselves, and how to stand up to the authorities because they will "hate us.". They got the same drivel going. Makes me sick. I hope some more like your sister get to a point where they see through their game.

sunday is meeting, and since you are dressed up you might as well do some field service after the meeting.. monday you should spend an hour or so in the evening preparing for the book study on tuesday.. tuesday is book study.. wednesday should be time for your family study, personal study, or preparation for all three.
Well said! That is really the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I finally allowed myself to really feel that during a dreary Watchtower study that was berating the flock. In a moment of clarity I never went back after that meeting. It is control, they are only about control of the faithful to keep the corporation going. That's all really.

PS. Went to my first psychic there, for giggles, and it was giggles, and the shop owner was raised a JW. She has been shunned by her JW parents for 20+ yrs. She was lovely and we all had a great time talking about all that nonsense.
