When JW's mention prayer to me, (usually more of a judgement as in "i dont think they pray as much"), I always whip out Matt 6:5.
In this instance, this young man should have a little look see to Jesus' words as well.
That was not the place. Period.

Question Marvin:
Would there even be a discussion or a thread here if the kid was Islamic? If someone posted the article and criticized the kid for what he did, would you be advocating for his "right" to say a prayer to Alllah as involved and determined as you are for the Christian kid? Honestly asking.

Actually redvip, in the old days the WTBS was much more open to using different methods for "spreading the word." It's just in the last 50 or so years they eliminated those avenues and focused solely on the door to door. They did run some PSA's and also took out some full page ads in some newpapers not so long ago. Can't imagine they had much response from it.
I just wonder how they sugar coat their doctrines to the interested. That is why it would be great to have a kiosk nearby with handouts or a place one could put flyers outlining bullet points of those crazy doctrines of "jw.org." A cartoon titled "The jw.org bedroom" with the red "no" circle placed over positions. A cartoon of a child needing a blood transfusion with the red "no" circle over the blood. Children begging to see their parents, and the "no" sign. Something that makes it reallys simply and clear what they really believe besides "wouldn't you like to live in a world without war and sickness...and have a pet lion?"
Edited: jgnat beat me to it. Thanks j.
so my family has obviously been noticing over the past several months that i've been missing meetings and fs.
i've had excuses sometimes, but not others, so my parents are definitely getting that this is more than a long bout of illnesses or fatigue.
i just received an email invitation to join them in service this weekend.
Ah...memories...
My .02, thinking the best of them, this is what they are supposed to do, right? If they are getting demanding and impolite, it is lack of respect for you and they are frustrated, their issues/problem. I don't respond to that emotion.
At that type of scenario, I would have plans for that day...leave town if just for the morning for errands. I would NOT put anything in writing about TTATT, unless you are ready for that.
Seriously, eventually they will give up on trying to coerce you, at least the "demanding" part. They will always try to get you back. Be firm and in control when in contact with them even though you feel you are not. That aura about you will deflat them a bit. Just keep giving excuses...it's none of their damn business even though they think they have the "right" to bully you because they have "da troof." The world does not revolve around them although they think it does.
In the big picture...things are changing...you will be losing these relationships. It's what happens, and it's sad, but then again...it's sad JW's created this situation. Good luck. It's tough, but for some of us, it's the only way...we cannot put up with being a fake JW.
verily, thus saith the creator of all things of life and light which are good.
behold the time of tribulation draweth near and is soon at hand; i am in the sun, and the light of the sun and it shall soon darken in the day you perceive not.. .
let this be a sign unto the world that tribulation cometh quickly, the day which darkens soon cometh upon the world.
You mean it really really is coming THIS time?
Thank you.
viruses, cannot be 'proven' or treated.. and can lay you out for months, if you need to buy time.. just a thought for those who need to get out of 'tricky' situations and buy time..
It is a good excuse to buy a little time. Worked for me.

we're not a business.
Just before I left JW, I started asking my friends since the door to door work in our area was absolutely fruitless...why keeping doing it since it was not effective. I did not get two answers that were the same. Some of the answers were (aside from the biblical command):
There was no real effort to "make disciples." It was nothing but a routine, even for pioneers.
I cannot fathom much interest at all in France at this store front. Still wonder who the brains are behind it. I can't imagine anybody in a cosmopolitan, metropolitan area ever buying into the crazy JW teaching.

Really interesting. I wonder whose idea this is. Any insiders here know?
On one hand, it's smart to modern things up a bit. On the other hand, France...really? How much interest are they going to get there.
And so misleading. Nice Apply-ey looking modern store with a woefully puritanical belief system and outdated culture. Somebody needs to get some handouts over there outlining what JW's teach that is allowed in the bedroom...blood issue, shunning.

It was not a political rally - it was just as out of place as a religious sermon was.
Exactly. Very simple.
