A JW apologist writes about VAT 4956
by VM44 ina jw wrote the following in an attempt to discredit the evidence provided by vat 4956. comments on the author's logic would be appreciated.
does vat 4956 prove 587?.
many point to vat 4956 as proof that jerusalem was desolated in 587bce.

sbf - "At a meeting of a more honest minded and humane group of believers, you might expect such a tragic incident involving someone who was present to be ackowledged and regretted from the platform. But not in God's organisation. It wouldn't create the right impression would it? Better just to Hush it up." (Not sure where the formatting tools went...)
True that. JW's are really bad at suicide...it is always something wrong with the individual and "the new system" (TM) will fix it all...let's go eat!
If you ever get to read Makena's story of his daughter's suicide, do it. The only possible good thing to come of it is an elder, a reg pioneer, Sabine, and son left the organization. JW's as a whole have a disconnect with humanity. They are not sympathetic or emphathetic in the least because the corporation isn't in the very least. The corporation only takes, it never gives. So its followers end up doing the same even though they think putting in time and going to meetings is 'giving.'
(What's with the replies not formatting? And I couldn't post from my iPad this weekend either.) Edited to insert paragraphs that were formerly there.

Sensitive subject for me. When I was about 10, I saved my babysitting money to buy a used piano. When I had enough, about $75, I scoured the want ads looking for a piano.
My father sat me down one afternoon and had a talk with me, outlining how important it was to send the money to the organization. I couldn't fight it. I felt deceived, and really really bad. Then I felt really really bad for feeling really really bad about having to send the contribution.
I haven't watched the video yet. Maybe later. GDFR.

Wow, Howard is big time spokesperson now. Such seemingly smart people still buying into the crap and making excuses for the failed prophecies and blaming the exJWs for having a brain.
S**t keeps going, 13 weekends every year.

His books were recommended to me by I think Mr. Shakita (does anyone remember him?). As mP says, the "Who" book explains some of the missing pieces you always wondered about...things that never made sense. I have the "Hidden Face" book as well, but I don't think I finished it. I believe I got about 1/4 into it and I was done. God was over for me.
These books were pivotal to me in my journey.

WONDERFUL interview ISOT4!
I love Cavett. And Robert Young in the back with a sweet smile.
I saw a Hendrix tribute at the Greek a few years ago with Buddy Guy and I forget who else...I'm thinking his bassist or drummer or somebody. It was great.
As a teenybopper I lived in a small town with one AM rock and roll station. We were so daring to call the station and request "ARe you Experienced?", under assumed names of course. I do loves me some Jimi.
My ultimate after school song going over French homework with a classmate.

Edited to add: BTW, when I first submitted this all the lines ran together into one paragraph, I had to go back and put the breaks in.
