"Just don't overthink the truth"
by stuckinarut2 inso after almost a year of complete inactivity and non attendance, i ran into a nice brother from the local congregation.. after some nice chit-chat, he says "we really miss you and your family...etc...you were always the kind and supportive one, the approachable and encouraging one in the congregation.
your absence has confused so many".
i thanked him and said "oh no, no individual has stumbled us.

I mean...really??? Thinking about life, death, what to believe...we shouldn't think too much about it? I didn't have a comeback then.
I think now I'd say "you say that like it's a bad thing."

The dog bit was really funny! Not far from the truth...the old "Paradise Lost" book shows a dog falling into a huge crevice at Armageddon. We had a thread about it on here years ago, "what did the dog do" was the feeling by many. lol.

by problemaddict 2 in...is an epic triumph is emotional manipulation.
bringing together all of the stories they told thus far and placing them int he "new world" complete with the little boy who was killed in a car accident coming back from the dead.. i have a good friend who is stuck in with family and plays the role.
he said everyone was crying, and the people next to him rated the videos by how many tissues they needed to dry their eyes.

by steve2 incurrent media attention in new zealand is focusing on the case of a woman whose male friend died three months.
she received a handwritten letter personally addressed to her and her deceased friend with a series of questions about what happens after death.
the woman was furious and, accompanied by news media, door-knocked the address provided by the letter writer.

Having to be a non-participant in school programs, clubs etc. where you could learn even better speaking and research skills, communication skills, team work... to me held everybody back from reaching their potential.
I too feel like a Debbie Downer, but that's how I feel about my "theocratic education." It was repressive, myopic, and held people back from development.
Who knows what talents we all could have had if we were allowed to pursue the educational system.

I think I figured out their strategy with all the creepy videos
by JeffT ini came in during all the hype over 1975. the predictions about that date were the real driver behind all their activity.
since then, they haven't had a good goad to prod the sheep.
they seem to be smart enough not to try another date.. i think they plan to use fear instead.

Videos at RCs are exactly what the doctor ordered. Ratchet up the fear without promising anything.
I remember in the pre-1975 time, we had Service Meeting skits on how to wear disguises, carry wigs, reversible coats. Lots of "when we are under ban and in prison" comments. I mean, my own mother asked what I was going to eat in prison if they only gave us cooked carrots...my mortal enemy as a kid.
How crazy is that? **sigh**
So here we are 40-50 years later...promises unfullfilled. Are their memories so short, or are do they really believe it?

I hear my JW family is at the RC today. We just got to open communication for the for the past few years. I wonder what they will do.

There is a family i know, former "friends," husband is an elder, with adult children. They took a hard line and didn't attend a wedding of a son and are estranged from most of the kids...the children choosing to live their lives not as JW's.
The wife is now in stage 4 cancer, terminal maybe a few months more to live. I can't imagine how all the parties feel. They could be using this time to make amends, support, do what they need to do. Instead, what a legacy this religion is passing down through the generations.
They make me sick.

As much as I hate this revolting video, I'm glad they are making these and putting them out there for the world to see.
With all the video out there on Scientology, and the TV series "The Path," now all can see how JW's are truly a cult..it is no stretch.
