Cart work faces headwinds.
by lastmanstanding inmy little bethel bird has whispered in my ear some encouraging news.
it has been reported to the canadian branch that some witnesses doing cart work had police stop them from carting in public parks.
the direction sent to the southern ontario congregations is to cease carting until further notice.. this is no joke.. have a jw-free day..

Loose Conduct
by Hangin_on inmy friend has been married 25 years.
he works with another jw.
they kissed and he touched her nipples but did not have sex with her.

Absolutely yes.
Years ago I questioned elders why inappropriate touching was grounds for divorce. It wasn't adultery. I asked 5 different elders and got 5 different answers. One even told me it was porneia, something you could pay for at a house of prostitution, even though NOT the sex act, it was grounds for divorce and whatever judicial decision they agreed on.

Apostasy Movie (For those who have forgotten)
by KW13 inthis movie is out there now in the us and im guessing other territories and due to be released tomorrow in the uk in cinema and for streaming.
https://www.curzonartificialeye.com/apostasy/.
i didnt realise until recently the man behind it all shares a mutual friend with myself so im hoping to get to meet him because this film looks like it will do more for ex witnesses who need justification for moving on and for those who don't understand the religion, i think it teaches more than any documentary?.

I'm so glad you posted this.
An post popped up on my FB feed of an exJW in the UK who went to a showing. They have moved on to a new life and doesn't really engage in any exJW stuff. They made the comment of how many exJW's showed up and some they had no idea had left. It was very moving they said to see the faces there, and an emotional reunion.
I'm wondering if the same thing could happen here with a movie showing.

Nowadays How Does One Become An Elder?
by minimus ini was appointed jan 1 1980 and back then it was a big deal to“qualify”.
i was the youngest elder appointed in the district!
i actually studied everything from the societies publications and listened to anything i was told to do.

min - that's true. A member of his family stopped going; doesn't have his household in order. He is the guy they always relied on for doing and fixing anything...he's a big hearted helper of the elderly and really anybody. He is still adjusting though to the title change even though logically he knows it doesn't and shouldn't matter.

Was just talking about this yesterday with a guy who told me he was just removed by to COBE in my former hall. The well of potential appointees is drying up quickly. I'm wondering if they will adjust the qualifiers for appointments just as they have adjusted field service hours.
Looking forward to the responses.

Welp...some very entrepreneurial folks I'd say. Cha ching!
"Best Life Ever" and "Be Courageous" seem to be the hot themes.
Wow! When I have time I need to check it out more for a giggle.

Meetups go a long way with healing. It is really the best meeting others with the same shared past. Many I've met still seek counseling for issues and advice, and it is best to see a counselor with experience in high control or cult religions. Most likely the counselor that specializes already has dealt with exJW's, and their issues are not unlike any other high control religion, orthodox Jews etc.
Anyone with serious issues needs to see a qualified physician or therapist. The success of meetups entirely depends on the people in the area, and their desire to meetup. Your mileage will vary.
We had a very vibrant group here about 10 years ago. Most have moved on, the conversation changes once you have sorted things out to a degree. I just spent an evening with Aude Sapere last week, she is one of the very first exJW's I met in person. We still have issues to sort, and appreciate the understanding ear of a fellow survivor.
With that being said, there was a very large turnout for Cedar's book signing, most I think were not on DB's, but but definitely informed with websites and youtube. I had a beach party one time and people came that I didn't know or engaged with on here, but they read the invitation and came. I also met many newly exited ones in Tahoe. They watched Eric's JW Struggle on youtube and just came not knowing anybody. Pretty amazing stories all of them.
My point, give it a shot! Post something in meetup and on boards. JWN used to be THE place for all things exJW, and I don't know if there are other places that people go to for information. Again, it just depends on the desire of those to want to meet. I wanted to meet people so I did, and it is great. Good luck!
