  How's your recovery from the WTS coming along?

  i came on this forum a few years ago, already hyped up from online xjw chat groups and the h2o forum and raring to kick some jdubya butt.

  then i began to calm down and i began to reach out to the newbies coming to this forum, helping (hopefully) where i could.

  after a while the subject of jdubya-ism began to sour on my brain and i began absenteeism from jwd at times, but i always come back.

  Better and better every day. There are scars I believe I will always have being raised a JW.

  I too identify with Abandoned's thoughts.

  I started out posting on Kline's "Pathways" at a very good time with some great posters that really spurred me on in my progress. I think if I didn't communicate on that forum, things would have taken a much longer time for me. I got to figure a lot out there with those friends.

  I so appreciate the posts of many here who I can tell have well done the research on the topics they discuss. And Blondie's weekly update on the WT study is great. Since I deal with many JW's still, some are amazed at how I am so informed with what's going on within the org. (hehehehe...I'll never tell!)

  Thank you again to the forum admin for providing such a strong and enduring place where all can come and be exactly who they need to be.

  (BTW...I sure miss JCanon.)

  My Bethel Experience Part 12

  they say love is what makes the world go around.............and at bethel, us "new boys" would say..... "if god created anything better then sex...............he kept it for himself!".

  how would we know?...............most of us never had it........didn't make any difference...........we talked about it...........fantasied about it...........dreamt about it..........i' m sure because we could't have it.

  that is why we gloryried it so much..... hay!

Remember it said.......... the man was NOT deceived!..........He KNEW what he was doing..........in his mind the choice was clear..............everylasting life with god............. or a few wonderful years of bliss, with the women of his dreams, the love of his life!.............What a hero he was!!!!! ........He was the frist man to die for LOVE and really GOOD SEX

  Wish Me Well: Surgery Tomorrow

  well, i did my best with physical therapy but it's not enough.

  my knee is very unstabile (especially since i fell again 6 weeks ago).

  tomorrow i'm scheduled for knee surgery to repair my acl..

  Name "UNWRITTEN" Rules That JWs Are Supposed To Follow

  as with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.

  here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.

  jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".

  A brother and sister cannot sit next to each other unless they intend marriage.

  HLC shows favoritism

  my family had an experiance where a family member was to have a serious medical procedure in a different city from where they lived.

  we thought they would get good suport from the hlc in that town.

  boy was we wrong!

  One of the last nails in the coffin for me was this:

  Some JW friends have a son with a serious birth defect. The child has had numerous operations and one of the times I found out that HLC would not assist them DUE TO THE FAMILY'S LOW FS HOURS AND MEETING ATTENDANCE!!!! **sigh**

  Now this was a couple raised as JW's in the area and everybody knew them. I was outraged at this. They told me they understood that there has to be "rules" and that was just one of them. Although hurt, they didn't want to focus on that with an ill child.

  But for me...it was another nail...I don't want to be around people that treat others that way.

  I am sorry for your loss.

  Did you ever go to Brooklyn to visit Bethel?

  when i joined back in the mid 80's many in my congregation went to visit the bethel in brooklyn.. for some reason, i had no interest for that.. in the last years that i attended meetings, they didn't organize anything like that anymore.. i wonder why that changed?.

  I visited several times in 80's and early 90's. I was different then...I had good friends there and it was fun. Disco dancing, dinner at the WTC, trip to UN...it was really fun.

  But I was in NY for business with a bunch of JW's a few years ago who wanted to visit Bethel. I did NOT want to go, didn't bring a skirt...I tried everything, but the kicker is we had to leave on the same plane that afternoon and a storm was coming in...it was getting complicated. So, reluctantly I went.

  Man...has it changed. They were sooo grumpy!! Being there in the past and staying at the Standish, at that time in my life was fun, and the Bethelites were fun. But now, they were somber, did not even acknowledge you when they walked by...it was very strange. We were toured by an exceptionally bright upper eschalon Bethelite "star", very nice, I guess. It was strange looking at the sister trying to keep her knees together as she washed the glass doors in the entrance way in a skirt.

  Then I overheard the desk clerk talking to a gal that I think was there on temporary assignment...and he said he never ever thought in a million years he would still be there. (Duh!!) The mood and attitude was so different. Obviously, they are facing changes and that sure would affect the way you felt about things, "am I going to be let go?

  For somebody who has never been, they would still be excited to see it I think. But it has truly changed. (Yeah!!!!!)

  How Do You Feel About Life & Yourself Now That You're Out?

  personally, i'm feeling better about things.

  i don't cringe when i see a witness now.

  i may still try to avoid contact with certain ones but now i feel more than ever before that jws are crackpots and whether they look down on me or not, they are the ones with the issues----not me!

  I feel great! I feel happy.

  It is still a struggle because I am just surrounded by them. And honestly, (I almost started a topic on this), I just don't get it...everyone, for the most part is still continuing on. I talked with a good JW friend yesterday, and she went on and on about the great talk they had Sunday from a visiting brother...all about the struggle of "serving Jehovah" and how they had an excellent WTstudy. That still bugs me, that they are still caught up with the emotional pull of that, even while they do nothing but complain about the literature and meeting content, and assemblies, don't even start. Actually, they complain about everything.

  But now being out over 5 years, I think I love everything about life more that ever before. I love people more because I don't have to judge them like I did as a JW. So that in and of itself makes me so much happier.
