  She was in our hall for a while. She was great really, humble, fun...ready for adventure. Looking at the program now, it was not at all how she looked way back when...mid 80's I'd say.

  I remember a crazy story...she was at my house for a gathering, and i noticed she was eating the entire peanut, including shells. She said it was what she ate in prison, and it was good enough to still eat. (Good roughage maybe?)

  Anyways...she was pretty special, although breaking up her family seemed unsettling to me even way back then. She chose the religion over her kids and husband. So her kids were motherless for YEARS while she was in prison. I forget the details. I admire her for her stand...but Jeez...isn't standing for your kids important also?

  Unnecessary Remodels

  a kingdom hall by me is remodeling, a rather extensive one i am told.

  they do need some painting, some corrections of poor workmanship by the quickbuild committee and a few other odds and ends.

  then i was told they took out all the ceramic tile in the entrance and bathrooms.

  I agree.

  In my experience, for some reason, certain halls were remodeling unnecessarily. I think it is fine to "freshen up" and replace things, especially carpet or tile that receives a beating. But there are some "remodels" that I have seen that are just crazy. You know now that I am thinking about it...I know the elder's wives there, I'm thinking they may have something to do with it.) And some halls...nothing, and for no reason.

  I do think it is a money shuffle. Volunteer work that the congo pays interest on the construction job.

  I'm thinking also, it is another way to keep the R & F even busier. I was at a JW gathering a few weeks ago and the was much talk and bustling around the RBC projects.

  Kind of like "Habitat for Humanity," without the humanity.

  Singles Clubs

  have any of you ever joined a singles club?.

  i've recently moved and don't know anyone in the new area.

  a friend suggested that this may be a way to better matriculate and start building a social network.. it's pretty pricey but my birthday is next week and i'm considering making this my present to myself this year.. any suggestions?
