For what it's worth, this is my take on the AGM

as i was leaving the kh where i watched the meeting, i overheard several conversations, all to the effect that"what a great bunch of guys the gb is.

" the sense of humor among them, the naturalness and ease they had while speaking, etc.. for that matter, i too, was impressed at how like able they seem to be and, believe it or not, the 3 1/2 hours went by fairly quickly, thank god!

but as i think about it, i'm concluding that that was the main goal of the wide viewing of this event: to assure the rank and file that the gb, the men who are in charge of god's household, are a great bunch of guys.

I was thinking the same thing ldrnomo. Huge marketing changes. Very slick...and they want to portray themselves as reasonable and good hearted with a sense of humor...perhaps also to stem the flow of the young leaving. The "adjustments," and many JW's are very disheartened, hanging on to the paradise hope, but losing trust. It's a smart move.

My JWgf said she thought the DC was better. She said the GB who represented said for the first time that the WBTS is an "imperfect organization." She said she couldn't believe her ears...first time ever. She said it was a little too late, but they said it.

I wonder who the mastermind is behind this modernization?

today i read at the xjw.com forum that ros died.. since the start of my internet connexion in 1997 i remember the topics of ros.. ros, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Is John Barr's funeral talk at odds with New Light?

john barr served in the gb and died in dec 2010 at the age of 97.. in his funeral talk and the accompanying eulogy tract that was printed, is the final sentence:.

"without a doubt, he slept for but a moment in death and has now received his heavenly reward and his father's approval - all he ever wanted!".

given that the new light about being approved and appointed over all things is now a future event linked to the gt trib, was it correct to teach these things about brother barr at his funeral service?.

Any 'Breaking Bad' fans?

i finally got caught up with it on netflix, and now it's ending.. predictions for sunday night's finale?

i find myself not really caring what happens to walt.

but i'm definitely rooting for something good to happen to jesse, anything at all..

No, just a casualty of the barage of bullets. Yes, a prequel. Not sure if it's going to be called "Better call Saul," although that's what you see everywhere. He had such great lines.

sbf, WW was shot, and ironically by his own bullet.

Jesse, who knows. The cops will find the cell he was kept in, and the harness...so they will know he didn't voluntarily cook the meth. I hope he goes to Alaska.

Vince said this morning he is working on a show for CBS with the creator of "House." He said it was a story he wrote 11 years ago.

This was an epic show. Masterful production, all the way around.

I remember talking with an elder who served formerly as a special pioneer in Ireland at a social gathering. We were all discussing the changes and current status within the WTBS probably around the mid 90's. He said, "nothing like knocking on a door in field service..."Hello! I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I don't know what I believe." Never forgot that.

A major change in the new song book I initially overlooked

it occurred to me the other day that i am beginning to forget the tunes to all the old kingdom songs i once knew by heart.

so i have started recording myself singing a few of my favourites from the old song book and uploading them to youtube.

and it struck me as i was singing them how many of the old songs have a military theme running through them, with references to warfare, soldiers, weapons and so on.

it was a perfect spring day, and a jazz band were playing in the mall near my work.

in front of the band, two watchtower literature carts stood in solidarity.

i could not work out who were the jws attending them.

I didn't know how Walt was going to kill the Nazi's...lol...but he McGyver'd it as only he could do.
