15 Years of Jehovahs-Witness.com

yes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.

i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.

the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

Thank you Simon and Ang for providing this "home." It means a lot. I was scared and obsessed with the conversations going on 10-13 years ago...amazed there was a place to have such discussions. I also have met some of my best friends from this site, from all over the world.

And as the legacy continues, yesterday I had the pleasure to introduce a newly exited JW to some of my friends I met here. It was their very first meeting with exJW's, and df'd at that. A HUGE step. They were amazed how easy it was to talk for hours with people they never met before. The bringing people together is a great legacy for JWD/JWN.

Nightline program with segment on JWs has been changed until tomorrow night.

i was at a criminal trial all day in murfreesboro, tn, involving the notorious jw who i call "mommy molester," angela montgomery.

this is the reason i didn't know until this evening that the nightline program with the segment on jws was changed until tomorrow night.

Kendrick's wife said "he paid for that crime." That would be the 7 month prison sentence for the crime of molesting her own granddaughter. "Thanks grandma." The interviewer looked at the camera when she said that...it was like "I can't believe she just said that!"

I hope this goes viral. AGain well done.

I Haven't Missed a Meeting in Years!

i recently ran into a jw i knew from a few years back.you know how it goes, a few pleasantries that always seem much more awkward than they really should (not for me, mind you--for him).and then the question, "so what congregation are you attending?

are you able to make the meetings?

"i'm thinking: do you always start conversations this way?so anyways, knowing full well the jw-mindset, i decided to have a bit of fun.furrowing my brow, i said, "that's an odd question!

i remember sitting behind the family at the meeting just days before they were killed.. it was also weird that their house was only a block or two from the allentown south, kingdom hall.. can't believe this was 20 years ago..

Is there anything about the JW's you still like?

some jw's on various postingshave asked me was there anything about the jw's i still agree with.

of course there are some things i agree with and some i partially do.

1. political involvement - while i do not agree with totally avoiding anything associated with politics, i agree that many of todays churches are way too involved in trying to sway their constituents beliefs.

The closed community and high control, on the up side, did provide a ready made social structure, The tight community provided a bit of safety, not sure that is the right word, and comfort. It was really nice when traveling to meet up with or stay with those in the ready made community. Some of the best times in my life were meeting up and staying with other JW's around the world.

That being said, I know it wasn't good for millions of others. If you didn't "fit", it is miserable, painful. And it's really a cruel community, now that I'm out.

I will say, those exJW's I've had the pleasure of meeting up with bring that same sense of community along with freedom of thought and acceptance. That is the best ever.

in this weeks story, there will be three different topics covered.

I can't forget that elder's face that was deposed when he was asked about protecting children and he responded they had a "spiritual" responsibility. He said it, and he looked like he swallowed a turd afterward as the perhaps the idiocy of that statement that just left his lips sank in.

I hope some of these clips go viral...like the yoga pants did.

If anyone has even one inkling that this organization care a hoot about any human being, they are delusional. All answers and actions are solely to protect the corporation.

Did anybody bring this to the attention of PBS news, or did they just find it as investigative reporting? It was a really good segment. Felt sad they are so evil...but they are and we all know it.
