That's great news! I hope this happens in more and more congregations.
Again, this is a corporation and all decisions are made for the benefit of the corporation and to ensure its existence.
i just heard this a few minutes ago by a jw friend who is still an elder in my old hall.
the kingdom hall i used to attend and my mom still attends was paid off many years ago and serves about 6 congregations.
one of the english congregations has a lot of financially well of members.
That's great news! I hope this happens in more and more congregations.

earlier this week i bumped into a couple of jws who i recognised from the cult cart.
a few months ago i had a long conversation with him one of them and found him to be quite friendly.
he is new to the area in the years since i left.. this time he was very defensive and said he wasn't allowed to talk to me.
Wow.
I do believe it is what punk says, more of a defensive reaction. That being said, it is reflective of the mindset of the corporation that is revealed when you read court documents. It doesn't matter how many cute videos they put out, or how many times the creepy GB says "WE LOOOOVE children," they couldn't care less about them.

the latest wt article to be studied speaks of "using our imagination" to think about the blessings of the kingdom.
the whole study was centered around how we can, and should, spent time visualizing ourselves in the new world, working along with our brothers.
They have to now play the emotion card. They didn't have to in the past because the ministry was more fruitful/rewarding. The field is dry and not interested in the least and they've had to evolve that effort to keep people somehow linked into their concept of preaching. But it is not personally rewarding standing by a trolley only talking to your mate.
Personal knowledge of doctrine and the Bible is downplayed and obedience is all that is required, The "carrot" of the paradise is really strong and the only thing they really have to offer.

i dont know how to hyperlink the link above,.
it's a link to an article by cedars on the possibility of the wt imploding?.
The WBTS is a corporation. All decisions are made to keep the corporation alive. There will always be faithful followers who need the religion and will help keep it alive with their work and money. They will make whatever investments necessary at the congregation level to keep the corporation going, acquire or sell...they are all business decisions.
They don't care about the preaching work. They know and have said it is completed. Now it is how do they keep it going with the least expense and keep the facade of importance to the faithful. They should have let go of the massive printing of the magazines 20 years ago...that was a long time coming and it was the old GB that didn't want the "work" to change.
when the wt sells property for a billion dollars profit, who decides what that money is going to be used for?.
when all the money comes in from all the kingdom halls bank accounts worldwide, did all that money go into one big account and who has authority to spend it and cut some checks to whoever?
when all the monthly donations come in to the watchtower headquarters, who decides distribution, and to who?
You might try:
I bet it's hard to get an appointment with him if you want to get your taxes done because he is the Secretary of the WBTS.
i have posted this information on another thread, but i think it is important enough to have its own thread.. i have been doing research into the roots of "bloodless medicine" and naturally, the "bloodless surgeon" ron lapin that the jws hail as a hero, has come under my scrutiny.
this post concerns the lawyer gerald garner, who represented ron lapin during the 80s and 90s when lapin was being investigated for dangerous medical practices, and for being too eager to slice open patients by burning them with a cauterizing knife.
garner was received to the new york bar in 1961, and was suspended in new york in 1984 for his role in an adoption proceeding.
Well this was interesting. Coast Medical was a BIG deal here back in the day 1980's, I'm from Orange Co. A former JW doctor friend from Sweden became friends with Dr. Lapin and the staff there and told me stories of lavish lunches and dinners at the expense of the medical center. That didn't set well with him or me.
Something seemed amiss with that place, although at the time it seemed like a "provision from Jah" that we now had a place that would perform bloodless surgery. I remember attending seminars at hotels put on by the medical center regarding bloodless surgery. I do know a sister who had a bloodless surgery from Dr. Lapin who eventually passed, and we always wondered about it...my gf would remember more. I do remember Dr. Lapin had lots of issues, then again, doctors tend to. His lawyer was a piece of work I guess.
Strange times it was.
