  What woke you up?

  in march of 2014, i was a very active jw, a ministerial servant, gave a public talk, was an attendant for the memorial, and one of 4 cleaning captains for an international convention of 40,000+ attendees.

  so what woke me up?

  an innocent comment from a co-worker about the candice conti court case rang a bell that could not be unrung.

  When the "generation" change happened in 1995, I knew it was all BS and they were just making everything up...no special knowledge. I continued attending, but focused on reading the context of quoted scriptures I heard at the meeting. That led me to more and more frustration since conservatively 50-70% of the scriptures I now saw were misapplied. During a WT study in 2001, I just felt I didn't belong there anymore after listening to multiple comments given in prideful arrogance of their own spirituality. Never went back.

  It's been a weird trip. Can't believe I believed that shite.

  we had an announcement in our cong last week about the upcoming one day assembly.

  the title of the assembly is "imitate jehovah".

  As a Matter of Conscience, I Am Resigning from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses

  after listening to the hearings of the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse, i am no longer content to have simply walked away from the organization.

  as a matter of conscience, i do not want my name linked with the organization in any way.

  i know this letter has been posted previously, and i thank the author.

  this question is known to be posed by jws to other jws as an acid test of loyalty.

  i'm not the first to notice what i'm about to point out and comment accordingly, but today i felt compelled to add a short article on my blog highlighting the new language that governing body member geoffrey jackson supplies as a response.

  a person who honestly hesitates to respond with a robust "yes!

  I thought the same thing as soon as I heard it. If asked I would say something like, "that's not really for me to decide is it? As GB member Br Jackson said it would be presumptuous to make that claim. Here let me show you the clip of him saying that."

  Catholic Funeral - Rosary and Viewing

  tonight i attended a rosary following the viewing.

  it was held at the funeral home.

  the rosary is a series of prayers led by a priest.

  I'm drawn to the ritual and tradition also, something I ridiculed all my life. **sigh** But the real me seems to like it.

  Another exJW and I attended the Catholic service of another exJW a few years ago. I think it was the first for both of us. We boo hoo'd through the whole thing for some reason. Probably a culmination of a lot of things just came pouring out.

  Since then I've been to another of a distant relative. I'm just an onlooker, but for some reason, I really like peace of the ritual and tradition.

  So I was enjoying a business trip in down town Bangkok...............Next thing BANG!!!

  so last night i was having a wonderful meal in a very nice restaurant when we heard what we thought was a loud clap of thunder.................. it was a bomb.

  yards from my hotel.

  thankfully i made a few decision that meant i wasn't in the wrong place at the wrong time.

  Relieved you are well.

  Saddened by this. My nephew went earlier this year and had a wonderful time. It's in my list as well. Just so very sad.
