I'm sorry for his passing. I met him a few times, and somehow got on his email list years ago. I remember him as a very kind, and interesting brother. RIP Weldon.

As a legal move, you understand their reaction. It is a corporation. It is obvious to the world they don't even pretend to care about victims...it is all about if their actions were within the law to avoid lawsuits.
As infuriating as their reaction is...overall it's amazing how they can show their true colors with such aplomb.

We have often heard on here that the GB are now "rock stars". I have witnessed this first hand. I'm talking about a mob circling around them when they are at an event. Pictures, signatures the whole sha-bang. They almost get knocked over at times for how close a large group of people are around them. When they walk in the hallways, and do not want to be bothered, they actually have "body guards" around them. They are most likely just brothers in suits but they still ask the "friends" to move out of the way as they come through. They can't walk down the hall way alone without getting mobbed.
This is just how they planned it. They have repeated ad nauseam how special they are, and how Jah is whispering in their ear all the time. The old regime, they still made that claim, but also would say they could be wrong, and they were real characters. These new guys are so full of themselves...I can't see how anybody can stand to watch them. But they do. I guess they need to.

YOUR DAILY JOURNAL
by compound complex indear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.

so whats with the dresses
by Sabin inso here is the thing, i love trousers/pants always have even as a kid i was such a tom boy, always up trees, covered in mud, skate boarding you know the adhd type (basically off my tree out of control) as i got older i still liked my trousers, it's what i'm comfortable in that & p.j's.
i love my p.j's.
so i hated that every time i went to the hall i had to wear a stupid skirt.

Oh gosh, I hear ya. I attended a memorial at the KH last week, and had to pull a skirt out of the back recesses of my closet!! Then oy the garments I had to layer on! I dress professional every day for work...I would have looked perfectly fine in trousers. I wore the skirt because I just didn't want the pants to be an issue; I wanted the day to be only about the person who had passed.
It's a stupid rule by a stupid organization.

Can somebody explain the songs and songbook obsession?
by careful ini've been out a while and have only put in a rare appearance at a memorial or brief visit at a convention/assembly to keep people off my back, so i haven't kept up on the songbook.
but one thing i've noticed that the org.
has been doing that they never did when i was in is all these "supplemental songs" that keep appearing.

Oh my goodness! I went to a KH memorial last weekend, first time back in a hall since my mom's memorial 6 years ago. Instead of the familiar refrain from the now obsolete book, there was a new song that was being sung. I KID YOU NOT...nobody knew the song, they were mumbling the words the best they could and as bad as I was, the song was TERRIBLE, no musicality or flow. What. A. Joke.
So do you think it's Splane? Could he be the one taking out the old standards and mandating his own creations?

How do you overcome SHUNNING after leaving the organization and move on?
by suavojr init amazes me how many of you have left it all behind, including family, brothers and sisters, friends and a full network of people.
i for one cannot find the courage to breakaway, and this causes me great anxiety and stress.
it eats me alive to think that if i open my mouth everyone i know will simply turn their back on me.

Shunning is dehumanizing. In a moment of clarity it struck me that I didn't want to be associated with a group that treated their fellow human beings that way. At the end of my life, I want to look back and be proud of who I was and how I lived. When I think about who I am and not who JW's want me to be, it becomes an amazingly simple choice.
That doesn't mean I don't feel sad at times or that it is easy. I just don't want to be a aligned with those who do that to people. It's awful. Be true to yourself and do what is right for you. That my friend is the real life.

Wow. I skipped around these a bit. So familiar and yet seems so dreary!!! The stage, the podium...worse than I remember. Odd to see the phone and tablets...I guess it's to show you don't have to know anything really...just be able to research on jw.org.
My heart sinks a bit; most "seem" nice, deluded, wanting to do good. In reality, they are quite cruel in their stand for this religion. {{shiver}}
A "sister" who stayed good friends with me died last week from cancer, and I'm gutted. This Saturday I'm going back to the hall for the memorial. I'm trying to prepare myself for it.
