20 something brother gave up his own business to pioneer after seeing bunker video
They glorify this brother on the stage and happily take the $$ green handshakes behind the stage from the brothers that have the means to do so. They are really happy those guys still have jobs.

My JW Elder Brother Passed Away
by minimus inhe was basically a good man, just a believer in the religion.
when we were both elders we were best of friends and then things deteriorated when i was not an elder for a while.
then after becoming an elder again, i slowly drifted away from the religion and he drifted further away from me.

So sorry for your loss. The same is in store for me in the not too distant future. It is so frustrating the divide this religion brings. Sad to lose these years to this divide when we still should just be loving sibs.

"Heretic" podcast - Netflix movie "Come Sunday"

I remember listening to this a few years ago. The podcast was just re-released because the movie was just released on Netflix. Pretty amazing. A moment of clarity, a real "come to Jesus" moment to a guy deep deep within the Oral Roberts Pentecostal organization.

Ira Glass says the movie covers much more than the podcast, giving more insight to the relationship with Roberts and the aftermath with all including his family. Pearson spent hours and hours with the screenwriters building the story. He calls out the Bible writers, God, hell you name it. That is a rare stand in that world.
Netflix movie produced by This American Life is called "Come Sunday," with an all star cast. I am going to watch it tonight.

"The last DAYS?"
by eyeuse2badub ini was asked last sunday, after a meeting that i attended with my wife, by a good friend if i believed that these were indeed the "last days".
what prompted his question was the public talk given by a young man that i have known since he was 7 years old and is now an elder at 30.. the talk made mention several times that we are 'definitely' living in the "last days".
i assume that the expression "last days" was prominent in the outline.. i hope that he way i answered my friend's question jump started his thinking.

After all, a thousand years is but 1 day to jehober. And with all the "overlapping generations" (lol) and the "new light" (lol) yet to be revealed, I'm sure the sure that there is an explanation. (or an excuse)

I looked up the location and it's about 2 hours away from where my brother "serves" as a COBE. He made a point a few years ago that he didn't agree with the handling of the pedophile issue within the congregations. I didn't bite, because I wasn't sure if he was testing me or he was being honest.
As the area elders have their powwow's over this, I'm wondering how he will sort it out. We were in communication a few times a year, but lately it seems I am on the outs again. Whatever, lol.
