i was thinking of how little i know about my father’s side of the family.
i recently inquired about ancestry.com and i’ve come to the realization that even the closest sides of my family via my father, are unknown to me .
what a shame that jehovah’s witnesses kept us apart.
What a story Caves. Thank you for sharing. What a journey.
We had very very little contact with nonJW relatives. My parents were much older when they had me so all the uncles and aunts are gone, and minimal contact with a few cousins.
My mother always preached to her sister which I found out later, really annoyed the sister. How could it not! But her sister ended up being very weird and mean, the polar opposite of my uber JW mom. So it goes. Family is complicated, JW or not.
my little bethel bird has whispered in my ear some encouraging news.
it has been reported to the canadian branch that some witnesses doing cart work had police stop them from carting in public parks.
the direction sent to the southern ontario congregations is to cease carting until further notice.. this is no joke.. have a jw-free day..
I just watched a youtube of Cedar's interviewing Fifth. I can't access the youtube link while I'm at work or I'd post it. Fifth is a really nice young man, out about 2 years. He gives an honest review of his cart and Metropolitan witnessing in San Francisco, and the lies the WT reports regarding the success.
I may have missed it if somebody already posted on here, but just getting somebody to talk, take literature and "agree" to further information is to count as "starting a Bible study." So when you see the claim of "over 8,xxx Bible studies started as a result of the cart work," this is how they do it.
Amazing success! NOT!
i'm a long time lurker, first time writer on this site.
years and years ago, i was on another ex-jw message board though i'm not sure if it's still around or not.
i really enjoy reading all of your stories.
Welcome gabcol! Awesome story. Thank you for sharing.

What will they think of next so people can count time?
my friend has been married 25 years.
he works with another jw.
they kissed and he touched her nipples but did not have sex with her.
Absolutely yes.
Years ago I questioned elders why inappropriate touching was grounds for divorce. It wasn't adultery. I asked 5 different elders and got 5 different answers. One even told me it was porneia, something you could pay for at a house of prostitution, even though NOT the sex act, it was grounds for divorce and whatever judicial decision they agreed on.
in late may 2017, i told my parents how i really felt about the religion they had raised me in, and by early june i was out of their house.
i've done a lot since then.
i let my hair and beard grow out a bit.
Awesome story! Good for you!!!
Losing family and friends really sucks. But being your authentic self is how you should live. Can’t imagine any other way to be.
Continued success! 🥂
this movie is out there now in the us and im guessing other territories and due to be released tomorrow in the uk in cinema and for streaming.
https://www.curzonartificialeye.com/apostasy/.
i didnt realise until recently the man behind it all shares a mutual friend with myself so im hoping to get to meet him because this film looks like it will do more for ex witnesses who need justification for moving on and for those who don't understand the religion, i think it teaches more than any documentary?.
I'm so glad you posted this.
An post popped up on my FB feed of an exJW in the UK who went to a showing. They have moved on to a new life and doesn't really engage in any exJW stuff. They made the comment of how many exJW's showed up and some they had no idea had left. It was very moving they said to see the faces there, and an emotional reunion.
I'm wondering if the same thing could happen here with a movie showing.
i was appointed jan 1 1980 and back then it was a big deal to“qualify”.
i was the youngest elder appointed in the district!
i actually studied everything from the societies publications and listened to anything i was told to do.
min - that's true. A member of his family stopped going; doesn't have his household in order. He is the guy they always relied on for doing and fixing anything...he's a big hearted helper of the elderly and really anybody. He is still adjusting though to the title change even though logically he knows it doesn't and shouldn't matter.

Was just talking about this yesterday with a guy who told me he was just removed by to COBE in my former hall. The well of potential appointees is drying up quickly. I'm wondering if they will adjust the qualifiers for appointments just as they have adjusted field service hours.
Looking forward to the responses.
