  Why to people give thanks (prayer) to god for their food?

  i find it completely ironic that people thank god for food and clothing, when if you look at the ot in genesis you see how yahweh curses the ground and tells man that he will work his ass off for food, shelter, daily life.

  why are people giving thanks to a god who knowingly made life hell to begin with?

  couldn't it be said that man works for his own food and that he should be thanking himself?

  I personally give thanks before eating meals, thanking God for the food, when so many have nothing to eat. I do it becaaue I am grateful!

  Public Talk & Bookstudy Changes - the real reason

  i havn't been able to keep up with all the discussion in this forum as to why the gb has suddenly decided to implement these changes and perhaps someone has mentioned this already, but to me the most obvious reason has nothing to do with control, or money.

  it has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used.

  i have been involved in the organzation for 40 yrs and i have never seen the level of apathy and disillusionment among those serving in some capacity in this organization.

  Yes, I agree that it is all those things and also money related.

  Looks like if organized religion gets thrown down, JW's will too.

  And "clowns" is right. I left after 40 years for a lot of reasons, but the "clown" that was conducting the afternoon book study: all he could talk about was how much land he expected Jehovah to give him after the end. He thought his due was at least 10,0000 acres!!!!! I was appalled!

  i have been researching the wt's position on earthquakes and i am a little confused.

  it appear that the wt is now not saying that earthquakes have become more common since 1914. for example on the wt site it is stated that

  earthquakes.

  I absolutley believe in God the father and Christ his son. Many of my prayers are answered (not all of course) and by virtue of the natural world around me. I can feel God. I have no doubts. Love to all.

  I have known for 40 yrs. plus it was not Dec. 25th. This April thing sounds le-git to me!
