  • If there is no devil, why is there so much evil
    in the world?

  • If there is a devil, what proof is there besides
    the Bible?

  • What is your individual viewpoint and perspective
    on the matter?

  I dont know if there is a devil or not. I do feel the bible is full of contrdictions and is not a reliable book. God and the devil are found in the bible. The credibility of both God and the devil is in question. People who believe in God need the devil to explain God. The devil is the opposite of God, the foil. The reason there is so much evil is we have so many people trying to get what they want and they will walk over whoever they want to to get it. There is no active monitor, ie God, intervening and maintaining order. People use religion and God to commit atrocities and justify them.

  One thing I can think of about the 7th day adventist is they wont work saturdays as it is their sabbath. Maybe that lowers their income. In the United states service economy you have to work saturdays at least to get started.

  i always will.. pragmatically, i have come to the devastating conclusion that i don't want to be married to a jw.

  Good things come to those that wait. I walked away from the witlesses in 83, it upset my wife 10 years latter my wife walked away that was 93. She says she would never go back. She celebrates and decorates for the holidays, she votes. We have been married 34 years. I was 31 when I walked away after having been born and raised as a jw.

  Beards, when were they banned?

  i know it has been talked about before, but does anyone have information as to when jw started banning beards.

  my wife is telling me that it started in the 60/70's because of the hippies, but i know i read somewhere on here that it was much earlier.. .

  Abuse of elder position and platform

  the craziest statement (not lies not incorrect application of scripture) just total abuse of elder position and misuse of platform.

  an elder when on the platform(or as some might say the stage after all the majority are actors made a statement to the congregation because his wife was a bit sickly asked the bro/sisters to arrange a rota to make his dinners.my thinking was if he can't feed himself how can he feed the flock.visiting brothers could not beleive what they heard they thought he was joking.. i can asure you this elder wasn't noted for his humour.. kt.

  Why does this hurt so much?

  okay, here it is a few months ago i sent in a letter to da myself, the elders refused to da me ( there is a first time for everything, i guess) and well i just kinda let it go.

  over the last month i've come to realize that life is too short to spend it doing something that does not make you happy.

  i think that a very small part of me still held on to the idea that it might be the truth, but after giving it a lot of thought i've come to realize that i have not believed in this for a long time.

  Sorry, I guess I havent been in your shoes. I was a Witness for 33 years, but I must admit I didnt love them or the organization, or I would still be there. Any body who would turn you in over what you say, is not your friend, they are aquaintences. and dangerous ones, I might add. That was the first lesson I learned 33 years ago in my recovery. The second thing is, If a person has 1 or 2 friends in a life time they are doing good.

  I feel for you, I have lost jobs before. Its not pleasant. As far as your mother saying it was because you left Jehovah. Lots of witnesses in good standing loose their jobs and what about all the people that loose their jobs that arent witlesses. Your mother is trying to make you superstitious. I thought witlesses didnt believe in superstition.
