I generally try to avoid witnesses. But if I was asked that question, I would say do you really want to open that can of worms? I've been out since 83, free since 83, I wouldnt want to be recruited by a baptist scientologist christian, morman, 7th day adventist pentecostal, catholic etc. Why would I give up my freedom for hypocracy and deciet?

the reason is that i refuse point blank to speak to them unless they speak to me first.
so, if i`m visiting my jw mum and jw visitors arrive which they often do i just smile, raise one eyebrow slightly, and look `em straight in the eye!.

The Bible's Candid Nature as a Proof of Divine Inspiration
by under_believer inone of the proofs the witnesses (and others) use as proof of the bible's divinely inspired nature is its supposed candor in exposing israel's and others' flaws.
if it were written by men, the argument goes, they would have hidden their failures, inadequacies, and weaknesses.
so, we see moses taking credit for producing water from the crag; we see all of the israelite kings who "did what was bad in the eyes of yahweh.

I live down here in Clearwater Florida where another cult the scientoligist have their headquarters. I think the Witnesses have them beat. I'm kind of proud to have been an ex witness after seeing that.
That was a pretty big organization, I escaped from.

by looseend ingrowing up i was always told, (like most of you) that evolution was crap.
my dads friend was visiting (who is an elder) and was talking to my dad (who is still a dub) about how the universe could have fit in the palm of his hand at one point in time.
this elder was talking about the big bang theory and how god put it in place.

When the JW's come to my door and anyone else, 90% of the time I dont answer because I'm bussy typing on here or playing my guitar or doing things that I want to do. After having been a jw for 31 years my time is very precious to me, I think of all the daylight I burned at those boring meetings. What should you do when you move out? I think your screwd. You come from a dysfunctional family, Jw's and your family gives conditional love. Thats a mind bender. Harden your heart and say screw them, if you can. But short of that theres alcohol, pot, pain pills and therapy. To leave you on a pleasant note. Nobody has a perfect life. They say the grass is always greener on the other side. So I say grin and bear it, and try to enjoy your life.

Did you like your High School years?
by free2beme inrecently i got a e-mail on my myspace account from someone i went to high school with.
of all 400 people in my graduating class, i keep in touch with one and it is maybe a e-mail or christmas card once a year.
i was a very shy person in high school, graduated in 1989, a mix between a person wanting to be a witness and someone wanting to have some worldly fun.

Anyway, I did not really like High School and not all of it was related to the Witnesses. How did you feel about your High School years?
I graduated in 71 so much of it is a faded blur now. Over all I have to agree with you I did not really like my high school years and not all of it was related to the jw's.I think I say that because I dont want to fall into the trap of excessively blaming someone or something for all my problems. It was an awkward time trying to find myself. Maybe if I wasnt a JW i would have enjoyed them more, I'll never know. I'm 53 years old and you got me thinking there was never an overall good time in my life. But despite all the bad times and all the struggles, I have assorted pleasant memories through out my life. The last year of high school viet Nam was going on. I was faced with going to the army and maybe getting killed or maimed, or going to jail. Plus 71 was 4 years from the big 75. Not a very happy go lucky time in my life. I played a lot of sports in high school some for school but mostly in the neighborhood. Playing softball, and football and hockey were pleasant memories. I had a girl friend for a while. That was fun, then she broke up with me because her family convinced her we were too young. That was pretty sad. When I was in high school Martin luther king was killed. Robert kennedy was killed. There were riots and civil unrest in amerika. When I was in high school the music was the best of all time. We had the beatles, Hendrix. the doors. The who. Steppenwolf, The stones, Santana, Traffic, Jefferson Airplane, Csny, Chicago, Free, the kinks, Spirit.Thats when all the clasic rock was being made. Music was a good memory.

The plot line to almost all movies that come out today.
by free2beme inever notice how much every movie follows the same plot line and pattern, so much so, that you can set your watch by it.
here it is .... the introduction - the short moment in the beginning of the movie that has you listening to characters explain themselves and their past.. the point - the short moment that follows the introduction that explain what this movie will be about, and offer at least a couple subtle points that will be major in the end.
(example, a small character mentioning something they know, someone they know or a history they share).

The bible if it is anything, is a book of contradictions written by a bunch of people who did not know each other and were not on the same page. When the clergy tells you it is not a book of contradictions they are either ignorant magazine salesmen or they are playing with your head to get thier 10%.
I also believe their are fundamentalist preachers who are also sincerely ignorant.

There are evil spirits and people that get involved with them through magic and Devil/demon worship do end up having serious emotional problems, those malign entities are very real. All mainstream religions are dead against occult and demonic contact. If this is true, then I would be suspicious that the occult and demonic contact had the answers to life, as I suspect our handlers try to keep us in the dark.
