Is manned space exploration a waste of money?
by free2beme ini was watching a program the other day, and it mentioned some interesting things about exploring space.
1. nothing has been found on other planets that we need or would benefit from.
rather the opposite, we have found hostile environments that would kill us.. 2. the cost to get a man to these places is astronomical, and not something that would reap benefit to our planet.. 3. so far, nothing within reasonable traveling distance has shown itself worth an effort that would require man, and would not be done easier with machine.. so with this in mind, other then the travel we see with the space shuttle in our own orbit, that has shown some medical breakthroughs and so on.

Imagine if the Watchtower crumbled and ceast to exist....
by JH inwouldn't this be a disaster for the majority of the jw's who need guidance and control?.
all their dreams of paradise earth would be gone.
they would have to start focusing on the time they have left to live.. although the watchtower is a controling organization and a false prophet, can we say that it has it's use for some people?.

Although the Watchtower is a controling Organization and a false prophet, can we say that it has it's use for some people?
In my opinion for the past 10 years, with the internet and information age, most people who are witnesses have the keys to their shakles in their hands. I would say most people nowadays use the organization as much as the organization uses them.
QUID PRO QUO - Lat. 'what for what' or 'something for something.' The concept of getting something of value in return for giving something of value. For a contract to be binding, it usually must involve the exchange of something of value.

Thinking like a Jehovah's Witness would think

to me, that i am more or less infected with "witness" think.
other words, i still think like a jehovah's witness.

Questions regarding these matters
If you were an ex-witness how did you overcome
"Witness" think?Do you still adhere to any of the standards that
we were once taught as Witnesses? How do you purge the mental brainwashing
propaganda of "Witness" think?
Time is the great healer. I dont think you can purge the brainwashing propaganda. You can bury it. You can be your own programer. Do some positive programing. Positive affirmations.

Are family heads regular with their family study?
by truthseeker inwhat percentage of family heads do you think actually have a weekly bible study with their family?.
the wt is keen to say that if you're not holding/participating in a family study, you're spiritually weak.. is having a family study a benchmark of whether or not you stay in the faith?.

That means your not getting the proper amount of brain washing to be an unconcious zombie.

My Best Friend is my Wife, and my 4 dogs. Outside of them I have no other openings for best friends. I have a handfull of aquaintences. I've been out of the organization for 23 years. When I first left I freted about all of the friends I lost. But their friendship had strings attached. I had to believe a lie and be a zombie and risk my families health. I am only open to relationships that have unconditional love.
I feel like I am a private person, and that may be why I mainly just hang out with my family,
Theres nothing wrong with that. Many people are that way.
Theres an old song nobody loves you when your down and out. If you find somebody who does ie. your husband then thats your friend. Everybody else are aquaintences.
If you want a lot of friends join the marines now that your not a dub. If you make it through youll have friends all over for life. Just dont say anything bad about the Marines to them. Oh theres conditional love again.
Ill stick with my dogs.

Just an observation, ever notice that the count of remaining anointed is never done as a demographic? No ages or average age, ever wonder why that information is not divulged to the “other sheep
I'm thinking, because the emperor has no clothes?

How do I explain my Jehovah's Witness past to a potential mate?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 {font-family: arial, sans-serif} .style2 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; } .style4 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #89490c; } .style5 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #848a2a; } .style7 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #89490c; font-size: 14px; } .style8 {font-size: 14px} --> explaining my jehovah's witness past to a potential mate all things considered, this is the one thing that bothers me tremendously.. so much so, that it has kept me out of the dating scene let alone to be.

Hello Wanderer. To many worldly people, having been a JW is no big deal. The world doesnt revolve around the watertower society. Dont make a big deal out of it.
Morals: I dont know what you mean. The JW's I knew, many of them didnt have any. Thats not to say you cant have morals if they serve you. I think the world calls morals ethics. And theres situational ethics.
Would you try sites such as e-harmony, match.com
or would you consider an ex-witness first? Yes I'd try all of them.I married my wife at 19. She was 17. Weve been married 33 years. I met my wife at the hall. For a teenage boy the hall was a good place to meet girls. This was back in the early 70's when Armegedon was right around the corner. If I was in the market today. I would say its a numbers game. Try your e harmony, I would take classes, not machine shop. Go to the gym, I see potential mates at the gym often. You want a biger gym not a little one. If you work with a lot of people theres a potential pool. You are close to 40 and most likely your prospective mate will not be a spring chicken either. Your both going to have some kind of baggage. Did you ever watch Seinfield? You know Putty. Be like Putty. Just be a shallow guy.
All things considered, this is the one thing that bothers me tremendously.
So much so, that it has kept me out of the dating scene let alone to be
properly wed.If you want to play woody Allen, then your mate will be your analyst. But if you want a woman. Be like Nike "Just do it" or like Taco Bell You can dew et.
You sound like you need some confidence. Dont over think it. Keep it simple. Its a numbers game. Lets say your looking for Mrs Right. Well, if you dont develop any experience with Mrs. Wrong when Mrs. Right comes along you will be an inexperienced smuck. And you may blow your opportunity. So get out there start pounding the pavement. Make yourself 1 date a week and develop your abilities as a suitor.
Also if your looking for Mrs. Right, you have to be Mr. Right.
Oh yeah like some of the previous posters said churches. There a Unity church here in clearwater. It has some cool people. I see you are in Florida. I dont know if you are around Clearwater.
Those are just some of my thoughts. Good luck
