Strange Experiences
by Jerohobobonadad inhello all i hope you are well.. i've had very strange experiences recently.. i've had discussions with a few friends, who i would never have thought would say anything against da troof, who agree with all i've said about the inaccuracies of the org and said things i hadn't realised.. i've had discussions with one of my siblings and they said they didn't believe any of the wtbts teachings, then later that week had discussions with my parents with sibling present, where sibling has sided with parents and disagreed with everything i've said, even though they agreed a few days before.. i've had discussions with a friend, who hasn't been to meetings for ages, say how disappointed they were with some of our friends who have stopped going to meetings.
the friend could only talk about when the big a would come - why don't they go back to the org then?.
i have learnt recently to never be amazed by the ability for rational humans to state beliefs in private, yet publicly say the absolute opposite.. i feel as though i'm on the outside looking in when i talk to these people.

"Worldlings" - What was your opinion when you were in the Org?
by Jerohobobonadad inhello all.. although never a fully paid up, dunked member of the club, i was at times very keen on the whole jw thang.. when i was in, i thought all worldly people were lying, cheating, alcohol and drug addicted, sex obsessed gambling criminals who should be treated with ,at least a very high degree of suspicion.
as per the classic pictures in the 80's books - all women looked like hookers, all men were pictured smoking or with a whisky bottle.. did others here have similar opinions.. i remember being 8 or 9 and my idea of a worldly man was a picture in the pale blue (creation book) or the red one (dunno the name) - i'll try and scan the picture i mean one day, it's brilliant.
it is a chap with a black moustache and a white shirt sat at a circular table looking all forlorn.

What's the deal here?
by Jerohobobonadad inhello all, i hope this post finds you well.. i was wondering - the same hardcore dozen or so posters seem to be the only ones who reply to and start topics.
looking at the member directory, there are loads of members, but most do a handful of posts then disappear.
is there just a crew of regulars here?

Odd announcements for disfellowshipping
by Jerohobobonadad ini've not heard a great deal of df announcements to be fair, but i remember when i was about 9 or 10, i was visiting a friend during the summer vacation.
at the midweek meeting, his elder dad got up to give an announcement.
he began by mentioning a large plant, from the cities botanical gardens that had made the news, that flowered once every 50 years.

Generation change?
by Jerohobobonadad inhello all.. forgive my ignorance, but what exactly was the generation change, and what are the implications for jw doctrine?.
although i rarely missed a meeting until a couple of years ago, this either went over my head or i wasn't listening (most likley).. i'm not the sharpest tool in the box so please keep it simple!
references would be nice.. thanks.

What's it like?
by Jerohobobonadad inhello all.. i have always wondered what feelings people have in the hours/minutes prior to getting baptised, the seconds immediately afterwards and then the first few hours thereafter?.
i've never done it, but it seems like it would be a real head f-!.
anyone willing to share their experiences?.

Is the Higher/ Further Education still enemy number one?
by Jerohobobonadad ini went to university without any problems in the cong.
two others in my hall went and no one made a public complaint.
i was interviewed age 15 on the platform by my dad (elder) about whether i would pioneer when i left school or not.

Did anyone else wonder why?
by Jerohobobonadad ini always thought that if you want to do 6 or 60 hours a month in field service, why make a big fanfare about it and become a pioneer or whatever?
i always thought if you want to go out loads, then go out loads; why do you need a group of "elders" to approve of it and make an announcement?
i've read about a few on this board who got turned down for pioneering.

Why I write...
by Jerohobobonadad in.
hello all, been lurking a few weeks, decided to post..... i am mid 20's, male, unbaptised, 3rd generation, elder family etc.
a number of years ago, in the name of intellectual honesty, i decided to research religions to make an informed choice before being baptised as a jw.... there was not enough time (and i was too uninterested) to look at other religions seriously, so i figured if jw is the "truth" then it should be able to stand any criticism.. is it just me or is it all a load of old bollocks?!.
