Don't wish to go to HELL. There won't be card playing, beer keg parties, Rock concerts or chit chat with the atheist buddies just darkness and heat. Evangelist preachers say that nobody will go to Hell unless they choose to go there. Reconsider.

Someone, I think on freeminds.org, found that the Watchtower, over the passage of decades, gave higher and higher numbers for the casualties of historical Earthquakes.
A Professor at Cal-Tech I contacted says that Earthquakes have not become more frequent this century, the population of earthquake prone areas has increased causing more casualties.
Earthquakes are mostly random events. Like flipping coins, you may get heads four or five times or 8 times in a row but not that often. Eight big earthquakes in a year is like getting 8 heads in a row, its just a random occurrence.
When Jesus said that there will be earthquakes in one place or another, he was actually saying that these were NOT the sign of his return. He was saying that one would CONTINUE seeing such events and that concern for them should not transfer over into making one think it was a precursor to his return. He said that the Kingdom preaching to all the inhabited Earth WAS the necessary event to finish before his return.
The physical events that would accompany his return were severe celestial phenomenon. The Sun being darkened could mean some sort of atmospheric dust cloud, like from a major volcano. The moon being turned to blood could be "blood moons" or the effect of huge amounts of dust in the air. After Mt Pinatubo erupted, which put an unusually large amount of dust into the upper atmosphere, we had a very cold summer in Connecticut (no tomatoes) plus sunsets were redder which causes the moon to take on a red tint. Like looking through colored lenses. The stars falling would be meteor showers, bolides (fire balls) or even asteroids.
Also, in several places, Zechariah, The Revelation to St John, A letter of Paul, and I believe the Psalms, there is a VERY GREAT earthquake foretold, such as never happened or will happen again. It describes it as causing every wall to fall, mountains to be brought down and islands sunk. A great asteroid striking Earth could cause such an earthquake.
There is also going to be a stellar or solar event that will super heat the planet and fulfill St Peter's prophecy in 2 Peter 3 of the Earth being destroyed once by water and again by fire. Josephus records that this prophecy of a pair of destructions was given to Adam who passed it on to Seth who had it inscribed onto a pillar of stone and one of brick. The discoveries of astronomical time keeping were also put on those monuments which may indicate that the clock of the stars, planets, and moon were indicated for the time of the destructions by water and fire. That may be after the 1000 year reign since it says at the end of The Revelation to St John “look, I am making all things new”.
If you don't think refinishing the Earth by fire is a good idea, go look at Hawaii. Hawaii was ALL molten lava at one time. You see, to a Hebrew, heaven was the space that the birds fly in. Look at Genesis chapter 1-3 for that. Peter says that the heavens would pass away with a hissing noise. There is NO SOUND in outer space.
(There is NO new “world” in scripture. That would be a nonsense term. It comes from the influence of Freemason theology which is the origins of The Watchtower. Charles Russell said that he wanted to “prove the Freemasonry of the Bible”.)
Reference Josephus, Antiquities of The Jews for the destruction prophecy. Its in the first few chapters and one can find it online at CCEL.org

Christopher,
You will be all right. The pain of leaving the WT is not much different than divorcing an evil, unfaithful, tyrant spouse. When there is a bond there is mourning even grief for what had been or should have been. The bond that most JWs have with the org is the fantasy of exclusivity. The emotional investment is difficult to throw away. One is left feeling empty, like the day after a divorce is final. Expect the stages of mourning to play out. Look up the stages of mourning for a death of a loved one, they are the same for a divorce and likely for this commencement. Know what comes next, one of the stages is ANGER.
Your essay is prose itself.
As was expected, the family, like me and most others, had no understanding of what mind control is about--it is not hypnosis or anything like that. It is far more subtle. And while it may change the behaviors of some in a positive way, improperly used, it can destroy intellectual freedom, the capacity for reason, logic, independent thought (sssss!!! Evil!! SSS!!). As humans, we need those abilities to keep ourselves from being fooled or enslaved by just anyone who comes along claiming to be someone special, using persuasive words.
I truly enjoyed reading your post.
Trust the Holy Spirit to guide you. Pray for him to help you and ask God to have the Holy Spirit pray with you. And listen. Be thankful, GOD IS GOOD! When he opens your next door just go in. You will understand. Don't trust any of the WatchTower's fear tactics, especially "Demons" taking you over for going to a Church Supper! (I am convinced that for the WT to be so egregious and deceitful they must be ruled by demons, nothing else makes sense.) "There is no fear in Love, perfect love throws fear outside." "He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world."
Since God has blessed you with understanding then proceeded with your exit interview via the elders then you must be ready for what follows.
What GOD BLESSES nothing can curse, no demon, no witch or sorcerer, no committee, no blog.
Pray for rain.
Blessings, prayers and love,
Paul

QFR: Should marriages be arranged for true Christians in the congregation?
by sd-7 inin many cultures, arranged marriages are a common practice.
often this involves the parents of both parties making specific arrangements for their children to marry upon reaching a certain age.
sometimes there is money or property given to the parents of the bride as compensation for the loss of her efforts in the household.
-
FuzzyPaul
This following really sounds like typical Watchtower unwarranted slanders of people.
"Have the two parties interacted during the arrangement period, perhaps even "dating" or isolating themselves under the false reasoning that they could take immoral liberties since they will soon be wed?"
This QFR is fake, right?
Blessings,

WT 4-15-60--re: relevance of false beliefs
by sd-7 inpeople will go to any church, admits a honolulu clergyman, without suspicion as to false doctrine.
thus in this age of deception and falsehood millions of persons are uncritical even when it comes to the vital sphere of religious beliefs; they accept what they hear without investigation, even though doctrines of the various churches conflict with one another.. .
an educator recently pointed out why people are not taught to test their beliefs and why people often accept even implausible doctrines.
-
FuzzyPaul
“Prof. Kaufmann suggested that the desire for social approval prompts the verbal acceptance of religious beliefs in many instances”
Does not equal the Watchtower’s representation “An educator recently pointed out why people are not taught to test their beliefs”
Christopher, you recently wrote how you were confused about how to proceed in the future since you are now out. It will be difficult for a while but you should believe that God will make it up to you!
“it is easier to go along with the crowd than to explain to the crowd why one cannot go along with it, many persons will believe whatever the crowd believes; but popularity has never proved a reliable means for judging the quality of a belief.”
SD-7, Don’t give in to any temptation to go to meetings or speak approvingly of WT associations as if that would make having a relationship with Our Savior possible. Lead your wife out, don’t allow her to lead you back in to that den of baby snakes (”offspring of vipers”).
Blessings,

Physical Israel is meant, look at Romans 11 verse one - can that be any clearer? Adding a component to physical Israel is the concept of including gentiles in the promises given to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob … thus the “grafting in” of branches to the Olive tree of Israel illustration.
The promises to Israel are irrevocable. God is a God of his word, “Just let your yes mean yes and your no mean no” tells one God means what he says. The promises are not dependent upon (sinful) human abilities, they are dependent upon God’s abilities. God foreknew the difficult people that the Israelites would be, but all the better to show his grace - “all Israel will be saved”.
Romans 11
Israel's Rejection Not Total
1 I ask, then, has God rejected His people? Absolutely not! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the Elijah section—how he pleads with God against Israel?
3 Lord, they have killed Your prophets, torn down Your altars;
and I am the only one left, and they are trying to take my life!
4 But what was God's reply to him? I have left 7,000 men for Myself who have not bowed down to Baal. 5 In the same way, then, there is also at the present time a remnant chosen by grace. 6 Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.
25 So that you will not be conceited, brothers, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery: a partial hardening has come to Israel until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written:
The Liberator will come from Zion;
He will turn away godlessness from Jacob.
27 And this will be My covenant with them,
when I take away their sins.
28 Regarding the gospel, they are enemies for your advantage, but regarding election, they are loved because of their forefathers, 29 since God's gracious gifts and calling are irrevocable.
The stuff about spiritual Israel replacing physical Israel is nonsense as displayed by Watchtower esque theology. The promises to US are guaranteed by Gods performance in fulfilling any promises made to ancient Israel people. Would you want it any other way?
How would you view God if he promised your great-grandparents 10 acres of downtown Manhattan ($ 20 per square foot last I heard) and at the time you took your title deed to obtain possession BUT found God had since given it to another family? Well, how?
Matthew 24
No One Knows the Day or Hour
36 "Now concerning that day and hour no one knows—neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son —except the Father only.
It does not allow for any one to know the time of Jesus return, but Russell thought he was exempt from this limitation. If Jesus created the Universe, don’t you think he could decipher prophecy and calculate his future return a little better than Russell et al? Even Satan knew Scripture well enough to decipher scripture.
Matthew 4
The Temptation of Jesus
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil. 2 After He had fasted 40 days and 40 nights, He was hungry. 3 Then the tempter ...
5 Then the Devil took Him to the holy city, had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
He will give His angels orders concerning you and,
they will support you with their hands
so that you will not strike
your foot against a stone. "
7 Jesus told him, "It is also written: Do not test the Lord your God. "
The Tempter (Devil) knew Scripture; secondly he correctly discerned a prophecy therein; and thirdly correctly applied it to the Messiah BUT then twisted it into a temptation. This is the Psalm Satan quoted from.
Psalm 91:11-12
11 For He will give His angels orders concerning you,
to protect you in all your ways.12 They will support you with their hands
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. It only takes faith to obtain salvation. What can add anything to the blood of Jesus? Why is faith so All Important? It is ALL important.
The process of salvation involved a great spirit coming to Earth to be contained in a single cell that became a Human baby, who grew into a man who was executed after false accusation. Huh? There is no small problem with reasoning out why this means anything. That’s the point of it. Can you take God’s word that He provided the sacrifice to pay the full penalty for our sins? Well, Remember Abraham and the attempted sacrifice of Isaac? What was the point of that? It was to teach us a lesson, God will provide the sacrifice for sins.
Will you take God’s word that a seemingly absurd act is the ONLY necessary component for salvation? - If you will believe God.
Dude, it took me nine months to get to the bottom of the pile of WT doctrines which they intended to hide salvation without works. I had help from Christian pastors and a seminary Professor after leaving and attending Churches. Also Macgregor ministries (http://mmoutreachinc.com/jehovahs_witnesses/jehovah_witness_index.html) specializes in helping Jehovah’s Witnesses see the errors in Watchtower doctrine. You seem stuck in a quagmire of it. SALVATION is THE POINT of the WHOLE BIBLE not the kingdom power which the WatchTower thinks they will control.
Blessings to all who receive these presents, I pray often for those who write and read here to see their way through the WT errors with God’s gift of strength and patience to get out and find real truth with a family of Christians in a Church as I have,

Dear SD-7,
Christopher, it is so good to hear from you again. You really see to be coming out of your previous funk. I just poked on to check on you as you dropped this post.
Liars tell lies.
Slanderers slander.
Mel, a Baptist friend has a JW wife from the same KHall we had gone to. He told her I left the JWs to become a Christian and she said that I must have "started smoking". You wrote,
“if the organization has flaws, they said, it's still 'the truth' and the best thing there is out here. Apostates, on the other hand, just want to have sex and abandon God altogether. I was quick to point out to the elder who said that that "you can't make statements like that about every individual."
I was a JW from age two to age 47, 45 years of indoctrination. I grew up 40 miles from the Brooklyn, NY headquarters. We went to all the BIG conventions in NYC. 6, 7, 8 day long INTER-national conventions. One GB member spoke after the other. NOBODY CAN SAY THAT I DON’T KNOW THIS RELIGION! My father studied 7 years with the missionary in charge of organizing the “60,000 Brothers” in Poland after they separated from Russia! I married a fourth generation JW! In 1969, in Yankee Stadium, N.Y.City we were told that Armageddon would come in 1975. When we left, we “KNEW” that we had the “truth” that nobody else had. We “knew” that only Jehovah’s Witnesses were “searching the scriptures” for “sacred secrets” to learn when the end would come. And we had “The Truth That Leads To Everlasting Life” book to spread the “truth.
We placed 100 MILLION “Truth” books. The WT tripled their membership. The silence from God was noticeable. Nothing happened. No new signs of the “end of the system of things”. Nothing. I graduated high school, went to work, got married, went to all the meetings, assemblies, conventions, Memorials, read all the books. Nothing except the WT printing how “Christendom” was spiritually asleep and they were keeping on “watch”. The WT printed that “individual” brothers read too much into mentions of 1975. It was OUR FAULT that we got “false hopes” we read in the WT articles we studied in the Khall.
You wrote above, “false religion is false for teaching doctrine that dishonors God”. Those words are always used by the WT to indicate “Christendom.” The words “doctrine that dishonors God” always meant the trinity, hellfire, immortal soul, the cross, Jesus being god. We “KNEW” that.
I got a Kingdom Interlinear at one of those NY City conventions and an Emphatic Diaglott from the Khall book counter and twenty-five years later started using them at the Khall. I saw over and over places where the Watchtower had changed the wording of scriptures in the New World Translation. The NWT was changed to make sure a reader wouldn't get the obvious impression that the Bible supported the Tri-une God, Hell and with fire, an eternal spirit in man, the 'T' shaped cross, or that "The Logos was god".
Changing the words of scripture is serious business : Condemned. Lying : condemned.
People, as individuals , not members of a sect or cult are told in The Revelation to Saint John chapter 22 verses 14 to 21
"Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.
"I, Jesus, have sent My angel to attest these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright Morning Star."
Both the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" Anyone who hears should say, "Come!" And the one who is thirsty should come. Whoever desires should take the living water as a gift.
I testify to everyone who hears the prophetic words of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. And if anyone takes away from the words of this prophetic book, God will take away his share of the tree of life and the holy city, written in this book.
He who testifies about these things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly."
Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints. Amen.
And the Watchtower says it is "the channel of communication" but the Watchtower has printed that it is not inspired which means they are "men who receive no direct information from above". And they print that the Elders are appointed by the Governing Body who is claimed to be appointed by Jesus to “give the meat in due season” which due season 41 years ago was used to tell us to place “Truth” books because Armageddon was coming in 1975.
It seems very ill advised to go to the Kingdom Hall at all or read their literature or even keep any of it. The Watchtower and its Governing Body is not anointed or appointed.
You are stronger than they are because you have God‘s spirit.
“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to determine if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
“You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
“God's testimony is greater, because it is God's testimony that He has given about His Son. (The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. The one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given about His Son.) And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
The one who has the Son has life. The one who doesn't have the Son of God does not have life. I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
(The First Letter of Saint John Ch. 4:1,4 & Ch. 5:9-13.)
What you must believe in is that Jesus is who his NAME, Yeshua Ha Moshiach says HE is. “Christ Jesus” translates literally to “Anointed Saviour”. Believe that HE is what his name says he is.
“I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
I have still been praying for you,
Blessings,
Paul

A Problem With General Christian Beliefs

In the few years that I have read this board, I've noticed that the version of God the Watchtower taught is the issue, not God.
SO many of the comments posted on this topic are generalizations stated in terms of being absolutes.
There are significant differences between Biblical beliefs and others. All mankind alive are descendants of Noah. That is why their are similarities in belief systems, they have a common ancient source. Zoroastrianism has been attributed to Ham as its source. An ancient Rabbi stated that it had the most excellent moral code although it is absent divine revelation. Noah is thought to have moved to what is now China. Almost all belief systems have a concern for salvation, being a better person, finding internal peace, moral guidance. When I read parts of The Ramayana and Mahabharata in a World Literature course I was surprised that "fornication" was condemnable in one passage.
What is unique about what is read in the Bible and Jewish Sacred histories is that it is HISTORICAL. Things that can not be directly provable can be converted to have circumstantial proof. Noah, the flood, or the ark were mentioned in this thread. The Ark has been found. http://www.healthark.com/nugem.htm. The Turkish government has made a National Park out of the site.
I studied the sciences, evolution is improbable in the extreme. It could not have happened. Features and functions must be programmed for in DNA. Random assemblies of DNA couldn't create life. DNA isn't chemically possible without life and life isn't possible without DNA. Small mistakes in the replication of DNA are usually fatal when organisms reproduce. Those that are survivable almost always cause disease states. The odds against the chemial evolution of the simplest of organic structures, the smallest single protein found in a living entity greatly exceeds astronomical numbers. (10^100 is about the number of cubic Angstroms in the known Universe. The Bohr radius of Hydrogen gives it a diameter of about 1 Angstrom)
Since evolution is not possible using Mathematical Probabilities then I can represent that God is a certainty. It is a one or the other case, no argument I know of has a third. I am sure there is an Almighty Creator, when I pray I hear him respond. He has told me things that I have had no way of knowing otherwise. This is the same as reported by others in traditional Christianity. God directs me, I don't direct him. But God likes when I ask.
I so hate what the Watchtower did to me and to others. So many people have been disillusioned away from faith because they had faith in people or organizations claiming to have the answers not in the object of faith. The WT version of faith is perverted.
I see the big picture, their is a plan of salvation. God is at work all around us. Looking at a picture of a starving child a person condemned God for it when the picture actually condemned us before him, we caused the problems, we didn't arrange for better things for others.
Blessings,
FuzzyPaul

Do you miss God?
by wobble inif you are one of the posters on here who has got to the point where you do not believe in god to any great extent, do you miss "him".
i find that i rarely used to ask god for anything, or load him up with my problems, everybody elses were far more urgent, but i did used to feel moved to praise him when i saw the beauties of creation, a sunset etc.. i now feel an urge to still do that, but do not believe anyone is listening, do you get moments like that ?.

In the few years that I have read this board, I've noticed that the version of God the Watchtower taught is the issue, not God. They rewrote the New World Translation in ways that cause God to be misrepresented. See Psalms 18 from verse 15 down. Past tenses became future and the jist of one verse becomes "I can prove myself."
