That would be your worst nightmare, missing a meeting and not knowing where the next one is taking place!
LMAO
there has been a couple of threads about death just lately and it got me thinking about what funeral i would have.
i hope it won't be for many years yet though.. when you are a dub it would have just happened.. when i was fading i would have just accepted that it would have been what my wife wanted.
i would have also had to have a dub funeral for her.

When I was fading I would have just accepted that it would have been what my wife wanted. I would have also had to have a dub funeral for her. But did think only family and non dubs at the crematorium
But now we are both out I don't know what would happen. just a few friends and family at the crematorium I suppose.
How about you, have you thought about it? I would be interested to know.
my older son, karl, is leaving home.
it could be this coming sunday but, if not, definitely sometime during next week.. karl has been a wonderful son and friend.
leaving watchtower was made so much easier because of him - and his decision to exit undoubtedly prompted my wife, claire, to take a look at the damning evidence herself!
since i gave testimony against the society almost three years ago, i have not had a single jw call at my door.
historically, when they did come, i would take different positions in debate, and not reveal my ex-jw background.
once they could see that i was not impressed by their message, and was able to seriously challenge them, they would start looking for a qick out.
can't get into the details, but need help and info on the topic of the jonadab class.
the story goes like this, i have a very intelligent jw friend who i have talked to much in the past few weeks.
anyway, i started to ask him some serious questions regarding 607, false prophecy, deut 18, and the like.
This was one of the things that "proved" it was the truth for me. We had an elderley sister in the congregation. She travelled around the south of Britain on a bike as a colporteur. Her sister was anointed but she said that she didn't want to go to heaven, so was relieved when the announcement came at her assembly and she stood up as having the earthly hope.
I believed her, she was the kindest and most loving of people, never married but spent her life completely devoted to Jehovah.
I always wondered what it was that made her feel different to her sister. Now I know!
.
after years of lurking - i'm on.. am i doing right i don't know.. confused ?
- yes i am..
Welcome, I too lurked for years. I can remember when I first stumbled across the site I too felt there was much bitterness and hatred so I stopped reading. I later came to realise the emotions that people feel as they leave the org cause some of this anger.
If you have been lurking for a while you will get to know the posters who are more laid back than others and know you can read their posts.
The great thing about JWD is that we only have one thing in common and that is our connection with the watchtower. Apart from that we are all different and so will all react differently.
You have made the right decision in coming here. Please post some more, but if you feel you can't yet thats also fine but keep reading.
you know, it's funny.
i have my dub parents pc here for a tune up and one of the things they asked of me was to install the latest watchtower library from cd.
i said sure and am doing it at the moment.
tom was a friend of mine, a very good friend.
he lived in a village on the outskirts of our territory, and was in his 60's and retired when he became a jw.
tom studied with my husband ron, often accompanied by me.
though the JWs don't have the truth, I believe he benefiited more than most from being one.
I think your right Marion. There are older ones in the cong who do get looked after by the brothers and sisters. But only if they kept going to meetings (in my experience).
If more JWs were like Tom, especially elders, kingdom halls would be far more pleasant places to be than they are nowadays.
I loved those character types, they would just say what they felt from the platform and had the congregation in stitches. Not sure about progression to elder though. He would be too dangerous to have in that position as he would not have toed the party line if he didn't agree with it.
Love your stories Marion. Keep them coming
i had a meeting with my heart surgeon yesterday, and after informing him of our faith, my wife still holding onto to parts of the organization, the dr. said that, "there is a new form that just came out last year from your mother church in new york.
" what this document does is (1) make it clear that the person is not allowing blood to be used, (2) makes it clear that the dr. will have a court order ready in case blood is deemed medically necessary to sustain life and (3) absolves the person's conscience of any guilt if it came down to it.
i'm not sure if this document has been discussed before, but i thought that it was a bit intriguing.
Best wishes to your daughter.
I have heard about this before for minors. The reason being that the hospital would get a court order anyway if blood was required. The society have come to realise the bad publicity it causes and they can't win anyway because the court will always alow the hospital to transfuse.
It seems your wife is starting to see through the teachings.
Good luck
i have been writing my story today, before i joined the forum, and my friends linda and trev have encouraged me to post it.
actually, i found it very therapeutic to write it al down.
i hope it doeasn't bore you too much, as it is rather long.
Thank you for your story Marion.
I will copy it to show someone I know who has come to realise the lies but needs some encouragement. She is in her sixties and has been pinning all her hopes on the new system so she feels completely at a loss with her life.
I think your story will help her to see the courage she needs also the freedom that you actually can do what you want. Not relying on the watchtower to control every aspect of your life.
Dansk this Km would fit with them selling their farm
*** km 5/74 p. 3 How Are You Using Your Life? ***
Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world’s end
