That was the conclusion we finally came to Mrs Smith.

on a "shepherding call" (don't you just hate that) the elder told me i should be going out with the group on a sunday morning and do rvs on a saturday.

I was conducting 4 bible studies two on a monday evening, one wednesday evening and one on a Sunday morning. I was working full time.
So the only first call I did was on an Saturday Morning for an hour (the cats ministry) never did RVs then. So my report at the end of the month was in the 20+ hour mark with 20 RVs return visits and 4 Bible studies. I was keen.On a "shepherding call" (don't you just hate that) The elder told me I should be going out with the group on a Sunday morning and do RVs on a Saturday. His words were that my ministry wasn't that good "it just looks good on paper".
I was demoralised.
Did he really think that would make me want to do more?

Slightly off topic, does anyone know if Gamma Globulin is permitted for JWs ?
The WT say whole blood, the four components of blood (white cells, red cells, platelets and plasma) cannot be used in their current state, but as long as these components are broken down again anything derived is permitted to use.
Therefore Gamma Globulin is permitted.

Anyone watched the film 'Sicko'?
by katiekitten ini watched this film last night, and it made me really really grateful that we have free health care in the uk.
i know we complain about the state of the nhs, but the bottom line is if there is ever anything wrong with me my first thought will not be 'does my insurance cover this' or 'can i afford this'.. there was one part of the film where michael moore takes some people to cuba to get free health care and one woman picks up inhalers for 5 cents a piece, that are costing her $120 in the us.
she just breaks down and crys at the disparity of the cost.. it was also telling to see the insurance companies employ people specifically to try and find ways to deny claims or to void policies where a claim has been made.

Why was I so blind?
by James Free innow that i can see right through the crap that is the jw religion, i sometimes ask myself - how come you blindly believed all that rubbish for 30 years??!!
i am so annoyed with myself for that - i have a degree, yet i was totally duped for such a large part of my life.
and now that i can see how so full of holes it all is, i kick myself for not seeing it before.

Worried for sister
by msiajw ini hope you don't mind me posting.
my sister has been a witness for it must be 25 years.
when they came calling years ago she was at a low ebb and had been trying to read the bible but failing to understand it.

Your sister is typical in not allowing herself to reason.
No one could have told me I was wrong, I would have argued for England and felt thoroughly proud of myself.
My guess is there will be possibly one issue that she has that troubles her. With me it was blood, my wife it was the love in the congregation, mother in law the static memorial partakers.
I tried to convince my wife the falseness of the WT by arguing the blood issue, this was useless because it wasn't an issue for her.
I say don't argue too strongly, she has to see it for herself.
It will be hard and a long road to take, but keep up hope that one day she will see it, just be there for her. My wife eventually came to to her senses. It is a great feeling.
Good luck
