  There were three things really:

  1. The way my husband treated me
  2. The way the elders treated me
  3. I felt I could not longer live to Jehovah's standards and by the jw rules and was not prepared to be miserable for the rest of my life trying

  My disassociation letter was quite simple - it is pointless trying to reason with a brainwashed cult although I didn't know that at the time

  Dear Sirs
  I no longer wish to be considered at one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Please therefore amend your records.

  Friday 13th and I got cr*pped on this morning!

  so how does that work?

  a scabby pigeon sh*ts on my head and that is supposed to be good luck but it's friday 13th - do the two cancel each other out?

  i suppose you would have to be susperstitious - i think i was just in the wrong place unless the bird took a dislike to me.

  Solo, you're a Capricorn, aren't you? It's been rumored that Capricorns are in danger of being mistaken for a statue by pigeons because they stay in one place or position too long.

  yes i am but that doesn't work for me because I don't believe in all that sign/stars stuff and also I was walking top speed to make it to work on time! The crafty flying pooper must have aimed well - I'm glad pigs don't fly!

  All of the Lost Loves

  today i was typing out thoughts on a thread and it struck me.

  i have not seen my one sister in 20 years.

  she has missed out on one of my children completely.

  My brother has chosen to cut me and the rest of the family out of his life. I've really not seen anything of him since 1987. I have never met his children, he has never met my other brother's children and the cousins have never met.

  I did see him briefly about 6 years ago at a funeral and was shocked at the person he had become. There was no life in him, last time I had seen him he was full of life and energy. Well not anymore, the cult has turned him into some sort of drone. I just listened to him waffling to my dad in some low monotonic voice and thought my god you are boring, don't you have a personality anymore.

  Can't say I honestly miss him in my life though, he was such a interfering trouble maker, but it's a shame for the kids no to know their family and for my parents never to see their grandchildren.

  he was getting his clothes, so i got up and went to the bathroom.

  not exactly "spending a penny"!

  I have just moved offices at work and every now and again I hear a click and the kettle starts boiling ? It never did that in the old office so I've asked Estates if my new office is haunted. I work in a very old school and there are all sorts of stories, not too sure about it all myself

  Still, I would prefer being showered with cash to having water boiled at random

  we knew a jw couple who applied every year to bethel and giliad until the age cut-off (age 35 or 40?).

  hospitality - as in, shall we provide the public speaker hospitality as no one else has offered. Oh, great, so not only do we have to spend all morning studying the watchtower, then the afternoon at the meeting but we also have to spend the rest of whats left of the day sitting still being well behaved listening to spiritually uplifting conversation (and there's another expression I hate!)

  keep your eyes on the prize (thats the one neatly wrapped up in the WT which is actually an empty box)

  serving where the need is greater - lets just move half a dozen time and completly f**k up your education

  Going to Kingdom Halls on Holiday

  did anyone attend meetings when they were on holiday?.

  my parents used to find out where the local kingdom hall was and drag us along to the sunday meeting when we went on holidays.

  did anyone else have to ensure this torture?.

  My parents used to find out where the local Kingdom Hall was and drag us along to the Sunday meeting when we went on holidays. Did anyone else have to ensure this torture?

  They even went to the extremes of doing this when we went to Europe, so we would be at some Greek Kingdom Hall - could not understand one bl**dy word during the meeting or afterwards. My parents admitted that it was impossible to understand but the reason we were there was to experience Jehovah's presence!

  here's a yucky trick somone else had played:

  we arrived at the KH for field service one morning and as we walked up the steps, there was this huge sanitary towel lying there, I just couldn't believe my eyes. This sister was talking to my dad and as they approached it she picked it up, carried on talking like it was the most natural thing in the world and didn't bat an eyelid! I've no idea what she did with it but it was pretty revolting.

  next time I enter a KH will be for a funeral of a close family member, how depressing
