Republican Vs Democrat

a republican and a democrat were walking down the street when they came across a homeless person.. the republican gave the homeless person his business card and told him come to his business for a job.

he then took twenty dollars out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person.. the democrat was very impressed, and when they came to another homeless person, he decided to help.

he walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office.

Are You For Or Against The Death Penalty?

i clearly am for it if it's proven without a doubt that a person murdered another in cold blood.

recently, in connecticut, a man was convicted of killing 2 young girls and their mother.

the animal raped them and almost killed the defenseless husband/father who could do nothing while these atrocities were being carried out in his own home!.

I do not think there is anything wrong with capital punishment for murder. The punishment fits the crime.

However, I do not fully trust our system of justice, it is not free of error or even fully free of corruption.

I also am not comfortable with the idea of the government having the power to kill its own citizens.

Death is irreversible. If a mistake is uncovered, there is no undoing it. At least with a life sentence a person can be set free, and perhaps compensated in some way.

I would much rather the wicked not get their just deserts than have the innocent be unjustly put to death.

So, in theory, I am not against the death penalty.

In practice, however, I am.

if so, it seems that it is ok to kill man on friday as long as you don't eat him..

Thank you for the insight, it is most interisting. How did the U.S. manage to get an exemption?

Bishops have a lot of say over the application of things within their dioceses. If you live in Boston, for example, and St. Patrick's (which is always during Lent) lands on a Friday, I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts the local Bishop will create an exemption so everyone can party, eat corned beef, and get sloshed on that Friday. :-)

as i was flipping through some magazines in the check out line today, it dawned on me that the wts could very well save itself.. it claims that the watchtower and awake!

magazines are the most widely circulated journals in the world.

so why the hell are they not capitalizing on this popularity by selling advertising space in the magazines?

Planning a Disney World Trip

i'm trying to find the best rates and times to go.

i was considering finding a larger group or even organizing a larger group.

if so, any pointers you'd like to share?.

I'll be there around Thanksgiving. It is my grandparent's 60th anniversary, and the whole family is getting together there.

By the way, the last two times I have gone, I have not stayed at a hotel. There are whole brand new subdivisions that no one lives in because of the real estate crash. Some of these have been converted into tourist lodging. I've been able to get a new, furnished, 3 bedroom townhouse in a gated community for, if I recall correctly, $100 a night (or rather my wife has).

No they do not, at least not in the US (it varies by locale). During Lent, abstaining from meat or performing some other act of penance on Fridays is encouraged.

There you have it folks, even though those different strains of christianity have killed each other in wars, even though they argue about doctrine and condemn each other and fight, they are still one, because they have love.

Denominations, or as you call them, "strains" don't have love--or not. They are constructs. People, however, do. Jesus never said the Pharisees had a false religion, what he attacked was their personal hypocrisy and lack of love.
