i happen to work with a number of 20 - 30 year olds and i am stunned by the overwhelming social/tech trend that has emerged among them:.
the obsessive - minute to minute use of electronic devices (i. e. 'smartphones, i phones, and the like').
these people are so intensely addicted that they can't stay away for more than a few minutes and keep using them during critical functions at work.
Metatron, I would love to hear your speculations. Regarding the disruptive effects of mobile communications, we are already seeing it in places with religious regimes that make the Watchtower look mild by comparison. I think we could compare it in some ways to what the printing press did to despotic theocracies in Europe in the 1400s. It democratized information and opinion.

apart from the scripture about love being the identifying mark of a christian, it seems to me that james 1,27 and matthew 25:34-40 quoted below are the biblical priorities of a christian.. .
although preaching was not included in the three quotes i guess it would be included as christian thing to do.
it has been the thing most stressed by the watchtower hierarchy and certain hours are required to be an elder etc.. does it show something about their priorities that pioneers can count time hour for hour when working on watchtower buildings?
Why can pioneers count time working on WT construction but not looking after orphans, widows, the hungry, the thirsty or the homeless?

please advise i was brought up as a witness and know the faith of jehovah very well i choose not to follow my dad as a witness as i didnt like the way he taught me the truth hence i know its true.. we are having a party at our house for chikdren ans a mum at the school has been invited she told me shes devestated as she has a ghost and its touching the kids on the landing................. i t freaked me out oviously its saturn the devil or his spirits, i came home said a prayer to jehovah as i do quite often to protect us etc.
if she arrives at my hpome can the spirts come here, please advise as i dont want to put my family inthis situation , she has told me a priest has taken it away... i dont believe it............ my dad is a elder of the congregation hence we dont speak, he always taught me stay well away and youll be ok, so even though its gone from herehouae id love your thoughst so i can maybe cancell her calling, i certainly wouldnt keep any gift from her in my home... many thanks suzanne dickenson.. .

a republican and a democrat were walking down the street when they came across a homeless person.. the republican gave the homeless person his business card and told him come to his business for a job.
he then took twenty dollars out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person.. the democrat was very impressed, and when they came to another homeless person, he decided to help.
he walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office.
I left a nice restaurant with my wife last night (we are out of town), leftovers in a "doggie bag" in hand. There was a man on the way to our car eating from a garbage can. I gave him my leftovers. I didn't give him any money (he didn't ask for any) because I don't know whether he has a substance abuse problem or not.
I do however, contribute to a charity run by several churches in my own town. It feeds the poor and provides shelter. One acquaintance of mine, of a different denomination, is a conservative Republican. He is a very well off, self made businessman. He personally delivers all the food to feed everyone every Tuesday night. All the poor that go there Tuesday nights have a meal at his own cost.
He adopted a son many years ago of a different race/ethnicity than his, who happens to be a friend of mine. He raised him with his own natural children. That is another notable act of charity.
I live in the most Republican area in my state, and there are no people wandering the street in my town looking for handouts (I have never seen one). This is because we have that many charities here that those filthy rich Republicans keep funded.
I registered Republican earlier this year, by the way, when I renewed my driver's license. I was previously independent.

GB, your argument is based on the premise that God is part of a set (a collection of distinct objects)....the same set that includes humans.
In doing so, you can then rationalize that since God is a member of the same set that includes humans, that human limitations on knowledge are applicable to it.
However, I do not accept this implicit premise. My premise is different.
I do not believe God is part of any set outside itself. It is ontologically unique entirely.
Since God is not part of this set, your argument does not follow for me.

i was a non bathtised jw who had spend most of my 30 years in the "truth".
i never was too serious about applying myself to it but my mind was set that this was the "truth".

This thread, if real, is exactally why a real jws would never come to us looking for help. We would heckle them to death. I did at least offer the possibility it might be real. And it might. Jws are not crazy for believing in demons. If an entire religion whatever believes in something, then it is not considered crazy to also believe it.
I was treated as bad and fought back. Some members stepped in to help me. Suzzanne, If you are a jws and need help, come on back. The mods should stop a lot of the really bad heckling.
I agree with some of what Violia has said. There we go, we've chased off another first time poster by mocking her. Geeeeeeez.
This is not a very welcoming board, in some ways. I can't say that anything should be enforced from the top, but I wish more posters would think about what they write to newbies before they write it.
