Oh, Honey, yes I feel your pain. Our fuzzy four-footeds are our family, too... they are immensely and intensely part of our life and love.
No one can attempt to tell ME that they don't have souls. Hugs to you, Darlin'. Please, try not to be too hard on yourself for leaving him with the non-caretaker. I know that's hard... but Toby has already forgiven you, so forgive yourself.
Hope you don't think it too odd for me to include this, but here is a gorgeous ritual for release of the dead. The author uses it for beloved pets, too.

Hugs.

Sad thread. my cat is dead. looking for sympathy.
by avengers into all of you who know what it is to miss a loved pet.. i never knew in all my jdubb years that it can hurt so much when an animal dies.
i never knew that a man could get attached to a cat.
when i was a dubb i would not allow the kids to have a housepet 'cause then you couldn't spend as much time in service.

What did they say was wrong with Hypnosis??
by mama1119 inmy doctor wants me to try hypnosis to help my sleep and anxiety.
he says it is just a matter of making your mind focus on what you want it to do.
i cannot remember what was supposedly wrong with it in the borg??

What??? Opening your mind to suggestion from anyone but the BORG???? Are you serious?
Oh, you know, opening your mind would let demons swoop in yada yada yada...
My suggestion is to Google the subject until you are satisfied with the data and comfortable with the idea. Remember... one of the best parts about being OUT is that we can use our own minds and do our OWN research.
Good luck and godspeed. -

Questions about Dating a Former Jehovah's Witness
by The wanderer inweighing the decisions
having spent a number of years in the organization and the opportunity to.
marry in the "truth" there was this reluctance to do so.

Honey, PLEASE. EVERYBODY on the planet is damaged goods in one way or another.
I am an ex-dub who used to be a sweet little dub gal who believed in it completely... but I was NEVER as submissive as I was supposed to be.
Dating witnesses? No way in sheol. Dating ex-Dubs? Why not? You already know then that they have the strength to extricate themselves from a mind-control situation. That, in itself, is pretty impressive.
In a colloquialism? We ROCK. -

I got a letter this week from an old friend
by nsrn ini'm musing over a letter i received in the mail, from by childhood best friend.
it's a brief newsy letter asking about my parents, recalling some fun times, and recounting her happy 23 years of pioneering.
her 14 year old son stays busy with preparing for meetings..... we were best friends from age 6 or 8. we spent every weekend at each others' houses.

Was Simplification the Downfall of the Watchtower?
by NotBlind ina thought i had daydreaming while at the recent convention .
old timers in the organization often reminisce about the way the wts was many years ago.
attending a convention meant (a) getting hot meals, (b) orchestra music before and during sessions, and (c) two, three, or even four dramas.

Woah, Moshe, very interesting observation! Makes perfect sense.
I also saw a comment in a thread not too long ago where someone surmised that all of this splitting and re-arranging of congregations was a ball-and-cup game, to fool the senses into believing there was constant "growth" of the org... -

Good gods what a post! I'd say that you have picked a very apt sign-on, NotBlind.
"...sucked the life out of Witness activities, there was nothing else to do but sit and listen to the program. Witnesses who had been used to using their talents... now had nothing else to do but sit down, go out in service, listen to the canned music, eat the canned food, watch the canned dramas, and read the paperback novels."
Touche'!!! Man oh man how I used to count the hours until the drama of the day... and my heart would skip a beat when the lights went down in the auditorium. I used to feel SOOooo productive and wonderful and special when I ran the "cash" box and took in those crazy little 10 cents tickets (remember those?) for food at the end of the line!
Gary, I hear you...
"They not only took away the musicians who played the music of my youth, they took away the music of my youth."
I left just after they came out with the new songbooks. I have no idea now when I hear a "Kingdom Melody" playing.
All of this boredom and resignation compares well to a frog being boiled to death in what started as cold water. It's all just as well, I say. Let the organization dry up. I want my family back. -

"Kingdom Hall Quickbuilds are only possible with God's Holy Spirit"
by under_believer inthis is what you hear every time there's a part on the kingdom hall construction program.
they're only possible because god's holy spirit blesses the work.
otherwise, what is accomplished would be physically impossible.
-

P.S. Seems to me I remember hearing about concrete not drying properly and mildewing or something because the structure went up too fast. One would think that with Holy Spirit presiding as construction foreman these sorts of issues would not arise.

Un-frickin'-believable. (...then again, this is the org we're talkin' about.)
Strength to Bill. I hope he gets a clue soon (although the fact that he stopped going to the meetings again is certainly a good sign) and is able to have a happy life someday.
On another note, I just don't know what to make of his choices in women, or is it his way of relating to them? What the heck is going on there? -

Is it harder to get reinstated after being df'd for apostasy....
by JH in.
is it harder to get reinstated after being df'd for apostasy than any other sin?.
i would imagine that if a jw admitted posting here over 10,000 times, that it could be difficult to be re-instated....lmao.
-
BabaYaga
That's too funny!!! I think you've got a point there.
And why would someone with over 10,000 posts have the desire to get reinstated, again?
