Well it's been almost a year since our move to a new area to begin our *offcial* fade.
My issue of late has been my 8 year old daughter. This is a kid who has been an old soul since birth. Very perceptive. She knows something has been wrong this past year and we've talked to her here and there about things but ya know - how much can you really explain to an 8 year old? We are starting to notice signs that things are really affecting her.
She brought home a story from school this week about how if she could fly she would fly back home and see Gxxxxx, Cxxxxxx, Gxxxx, etc. (all people and family members who are actively shunning us and sending passive aggressive letters and info. to our kids. we haven't given them that stuff though.) She is a real people pleaser and she would probably go back to meetings just to please these JW family members if the choice were hers.
I am going to try to talk to her about this stuff this week and give her more info. and details about things but I really want to try to ask her some thought-provoking questions. Can any of you give me some questions that I can ask her so that I can have her draw her own conclusions on the matter? I don't want to bash the jw family members but I am also going to let her know that what they are doing is very wrong in my opinion.
thanks in advance....

Cover Letter and Letter of Disassociation.
by AK - Jeff ini am forced to either accept df'ing without any defense [i clearly have none against charges of apostasy], or to at least 'speak my mind' one last time as i exit, with a hope of perhaps helping others to 'wake up'.. to that end - i have elected to send a letter of da to the elders - but more importantly - a copy of it, with a cover letter, to several families in the congregation.
most of these things never have a positive result, i know.
but at least i have attempted in this way to give a little defense for my position.

A Review of the movie:Jesus Camp
by CaptainSchmideo inthis is from a website called "aint it cool news" which reviews upcoming films from a "fanboy" viewpoint.
the review come from several contributors to the site.
this one comes from a person who calls himself "mr. winston", and it makes its point quite well.

How Come So Many Bethelites Leave The Organization
by ilovemusik inhello i'm new here but i've been reading the things on this db for quite some time.
i am still an active witness, but i've been having doubts for quite sometime and have been looking into the background of the organization, very shocked at what i'm finding.
since i lived next to headquarters and had a lot of bethelites in my congregation, i was shock to learn (not only on this db) that so many bethelites who leave bethel also end up leaving the organization.

welcome to the board Ilovemusik.
there is a poster named ithinkisee and he has quite a bit of his history down of bethel life for him and how it opened his eyes to what really happens within the org.
you can search for him in the member directory and then search his topic history.
hope you find answers to your questions here. I know I did! -

*****Society approved monitoring software installed on publisher's PCs
get the average JW to accept this. *****
I really don't think it would take that much readjusting to get the average jw to accept this. My parents would have jumped all over this *monitoring* device if it had been available when I was growing up. Most jw's (esp. parents or those in authority) seem to have extreme control issues so this would appeal to them a lot. They would justify the whole thing as *loving* and that it was for a protection.
The only thing they fail to realize is that the tighter they grip - the more the jw's (esp. the younger crowd) will wiggle to free themselves of the iron hand.
