Beards, when were they banned?

my wife is telling me that it started in the 60/70's because of the hippies, but i know i read somewhere on here that it was much earlier.. .

by parlay inwhat do you think about the wts prohibition on beards?
currently in the us, i think a brother can wear a beard, he just won't be used in the congregation.
i see all references in the wt to beards are in a negative light, such as the supreme court upholding a supermarket chains no beards rule.

The "classic male JW look" is and always has been whatever was the dominant fashion of the GB or other influential leaders in the 30's 40's 50's.
Jehovah God gave men facial hair- but his chosen organization at this most critical of time in human history ever ever ever ever says it a bad thing.

How old did you expect to be when the New System would come?
by JH ini became a jw at age 28 and no way did i expect to ever get older than 40 years old in this system.. maybe at the extreme, i could have imagined being 45 years old, not more..

I worked out I would be 21 and oh so mature !
That was 1975 .
I'm 53 now and have 3 children and oh so much I could say.
I regard myself as "damaged goods" and that is not meant to mean I feel sorry for myself but I've been damaged .
