It means:
- Something I used to attend, because I thought the God of Israel would be VERY displeased if I didn't.
- The biggest day of the year for Jehovah's Witnesses. It's a big non-event to pump up their membership figures and to try to convince current JW's of the "potential" for growth there still is.
- It is a further disproof of the 'little flock' teaching, because the number of partakers at each year's Memorial should decrease (according to Watchtower teaching). However, it has been holding steady for the past decade or two. So when they spend the first half of the Memorial talk telling how special the 'little flock' is (so that nobody drinks the wine), they're talking mumbo-jumbo.
- A chance for the 'in crowd' of the congregation to go out together afterwards, once the Memorial is FINALLY done.
exactly Gopher & I think the in crowd likes the get together's afterwards more than anything.....LOL!!!

Ahh, Dont be it was my choice..no regrets as of yet
I hate 2 say this, but you will have regrets later on, whether u admit or not....when u really see the "truth" 4 what it is.....thats when your true feelings about it come into play...but if it makes u happy 4 now, more power 2 U.

My Dad died on Friday
by littlemike ini dont often post on here but lurk everday.
i was an elder for 11 years, raised as a witness from birth and eventually left in 2002 aged 42.. my dad died on friday aged 87. he was a witness baptized in 1940. he was congregation servant and then elder in hull, england.. we were arranging his funeral tonight with my 2 brothers who are still witness elders.
all they were interested in was what he had done in the "truth".

Mike - my deepest sympathy 2 you/& your family. Losing a love one is never easy, but may the good memories your have of your dad, helps you through this grieving period.
As far as sending out your life story....I am not so sure about that... Unless you are ready for the consequences. Also, I think of all the active JWs that reads your life story & how that will affect them. Some may view it as an eye-opener on the ORG, but others may view in a negative way. There could be others who read it & decide to leave the ORG, but not be truly happy in a world without the JW org & their Jw friends. Some ppl cannot survive without the ORG. It is their life. Personally, I think people need to find the TRUTH about the ORG on their own, because when learning this TRUTH, it is becomes a long process on figuring out what do with it.
So, I say all of this 2 say, please think carefully & hard on the consequences on yourself & others who will read it.
Take care Mike.

what did you "sacrifice" when you came in the Truth?
by skyclad ini'm a newbie, bin lurking for days and bin doing so much research from your informative threads that my family think i'm possibly "comin back in the truth" =not!
this is my 1st post so forgive if already done before, but just wondered what you had to "sacrifice to come in the truth?
in my case, i was baptised in early 80's, my study conductor and all the dubs heavily drilled into us young-uns to sacrifice whatever it takes to please the org.

skyclad - sorry 2 hear about what you missed out on, however, it is never 2 late 2 accomplish your goals...
i gave up some really awesome friends in college...i drifted away from them, & now years later, I am trying to locate them........also, passed up dating some really awesome girls in college, b/c they were not jws(how stupid)....fortunately, i did not stop my pursuit of my bachelor's degree & a great job. i was always ambitious & my education/full-time job, was something I would never give up for the jw org.
