2007 Convention

i was wondering if anyone knew about the venue for a 2007 district (i believe) convention taking place in northeast pennsylvania over the labor day holiday?

where it's scheduled for?.

i work for a company that was trying to obtain blocks of hotel rooms for a soccer tournament the same weekend.

I work for a company that was trying to obtain blocks of hotel rooms for a soccer tournament the same weekend. And they were asking me why there were no rooms.

Being that I've faded out, I have no idea where this convention is being held? The hotels that the JW's have blocked rooms at are in Luzerne County in PA (Wilkes-Barre area, Hazleton area)

Just seeing if anyone knows more about this convention!

Remember the assembly hall at Grantville, Pennsylvania?

when i was a child in the early 80's, i remember about twice a year being packed up into the family jdub-mobile and taking about an hour trip up to the grantville, pa assembly hall.

i think it was built in the late 60's, or early 70's.

back in the 80's, circuit assemblies lasted like 4 days.

I've lived here in the Poconos of PA for about 15 years, so I only went to Grantville in the early 90's but I was baptised in 1993 (I think) at Grantville. I try to forget the details - couldn't tell you what color the carpet was - most times I was carting around a 1 and 2 year old at that time. I used to live in NJ and our assemblies were at the Stanley Theatre. That was a beautiful place (the structure - not the stuff that went on there!)

Finally got the Tract

during these hit-n-run tract campaigns they often go to doors by themselves.

Apparently I received it yesterday - but my husband tossed it in the trash before I got home from work.

But my mother-in-law had one too, she left it lying on her porch - just in case someone wanted some reading material. LOL

Talking to a DF'd sister...

i am not df'd and have not da'd, just faded the last six years - anyway i was remembering a time when i was about 18 or 19 and a very good friend that i had grown up with was df'd for fornication - well she was finally coming back to the hall to get reinstated and i hadn't seen or spoken to her for more than a year - so when she showed up at the hall one night i told my mom i was going to say hi!

remember, she was still df'd - my mom said i shouldn't and i told her i don't care - i had missed my friend and wanted to just say hi!

i said to my friend - "i just wanted to say that i missed you and happy to see you back!

You showed more love and kindness than the whole Hall-full of unChristians! Silly tho, you talk to her, and it's her fault?

Thanks! I felt that way too! I just missed her so much - I didn't care what anyone else thought - (darn, can't get rid of this highlighting thingy!)

The elders of course counciled her about speaking to me - of course she didn't even say anything because she was in shock that I came up to her - I was just thinking how funny that is now! I didn't even get counciled to about it from the elders - or if I did, I don't remember that part!

Has anyone else done anything like that??

Changing jobs...

my boss and i were talking today about changing jobs - she said she would have loved to change jobs in her 40's (she's about 60 now) but she said everyone should change jobs about 1/2 way through their lives.. currently i work in the marketing department of a whitewater rafting outfitter in pennsylvania - and i think if i changed jobs it would be to become a writer.. so my question is what job would you like to change too and what do you currently do?.

Who Has Back Pain?

seems like 8 out of 10 have back pain.

i've always wondered why so many do.. so...do you, and how do you deal with it?.

I've had minor troubles - but since March of this year my husband has been the back pain sufferer - He's been home from work since August 18th when he had back surgery for 2 herniated lumbar discs - 2 weeks after the surgery he herniated 2 more discs in the cervical spine - he is a mess - he is in physical therapy 3 days per week, vicodin (sp?), muscle relaxers and TENS at home - he has continual numbness down his leg and also down his left arm and pain. Currently he is getting a second epidural block in the neck on Tuesday - but so far it hasn't really done much. The Dr said if it doesn't she'll send him back to the surgeon for the cervical spine. At this point he does not want to go through another surgery, he doesn't think the 1st one on the lumbar spine did anything.

He says he'll just live with the pain. I asked the Dr if it could be degeneritive disc disease, but she said no. He's only 35 but he feels like he's 90!

hi, i just joined this site and thought i would say hi.

my brief history is being raised as a witness, disfellowshiped for being a normal 17 year old, spending 10 years feeling guilty and thinking im going to die and so will my husband and son.

mother and father in it and always run out crying because they think they failed as parents cause none of their kids stayed in it.

Welcome Pippy!

You remind me of myself - young with kids and an unbelieving husband - i have been out for 6 years now (by fading method) - and although it's been hard - I find my children to be a joy to watch grow up in a world unlike mine! - NO FEAR! They have very little memory of what was taught and although they must go to meetings when visiting my folks in Florida, they don't retain anything. (I hope). I try to let them know how I was treated because there daddy wasn't a witness - they are 12 & 13 - so they understand.

Keep up the good work! Knowing I did everything I could to be a good witness - never gave me the satisfaction of being a great mother to my children and the best wife possible.

OMG Have you ever taken a keyboard apart to clean it?

i did this years ago and it was so gross i didn't want to do it again.

and each key came out separately - a real pain when you wanted to put it all back together.

my good ergonomic keyboard wouldn't put in spaces so typing was a pain.

my husband got a ergonomical keyboard from his brother - (he wasn't a very clean man) the keyboard was disgusting - my husband put it in the dishwasher and it came out clean ! Made sure it was dry (at least a day of air drying) and it was clean and worked fine!

How good does if feel to you not attending meetings anymore?

i have been in the truth my whole life and tomorrow i turn 32!

the last year i have been fading and haven't been to the kh since the memorial.

i can't tell you how it has been such a heavy burden lifted off my shoulders not to have to worry about so many meetings!!!

So Great!!! I've been out for 6 years and I love being able to sleep in on the weekends!!

My kids were younger back then and I wouldn't bring them to the Thursday meeting because it didn't get out til 945pm - they had to get up for school the next day. Too late for them to be out, especially when bed time was 8pm any other day. I remember my pioneer mom saying - Sister So & So brings her kids and they are the same age as yours! I said 'good for them' -

Hooray for sleeping in!!
