Hi Rex,

It is interesting that all your quotes are from 1970 - 1984 (with one exception!). Do you have any quotes from scientists who are currently active in this area of research?

IMHO, in recent years, advances in molecular biology and genetics have opened up a whole new avenue of exploration. This has apparantly shown evidence for common ancestory between apes and humans. Try looking here: http://www.gate.net/~rwms/EvoEvidence.html

I am not an evolutionist by any means, but I do appreciate the work that biologists do. I believe that it is foolish to bury ones head in the past where there was a lack of evidence, and refuse to acknowledge recent advances in scientific understanding.

Who knows, they may actually 'prove' that a creation event must have occured!

Christ's Manifestation and Kingdom - 1st Century?

whilst reading 2nd timothy i noticed that chapter 4:1-8 seem to suggest that the early christian church believed that christ was manifest and in his kingdom:.

i solemnly charge you before god and christ jesus, who is destined to judge the living and the dead, and by his manifestation and his kingdom.. .

this implies that he is still to judge, but that he is manifest and that his kiongdom is established.

Whilst reading 2nd Timothy I noticed that chapter 4:1-8 seem to suggest that the early christian church believed that Christ was manifest and in his kingdom:

I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is destined to judge the living and the dead, and by his manifestation and his kingdom.

This implies that he is still to judge, but that he is manifest and that his kiongdom is established. This is further compounded in verse 8 where it reads:

...yet not only to me, but also to all those who have loved his manifestation.

The above suggests that Paul will certainly be among those who will love his manifestation (if not already doing so) which implies that it will come before his death (if not already there).

Was Christ manifest in the first century? Was his kingdom already established? Why all the fuss about 1914?

just a little niggle i have:.

in genesis 1:6-10 it talk of how the 'waters' were divided into upper and lower with an expanse in between.

this expanse became known as 'heaven', the waters underneath the heaven became the foundation of earth.

I can appreciate the idea of the waters above being the 'spiritual' foundation of the universe, but the bible doesn't actually say that...I would have thought that there would be more mention of it, if that were the case.

Maybe He's still waiting to use it...?

it seems like to me the majority of people who are in the truth, are were in the truth was a result of either a family member are a friend witnessing to them and not many seem to have been found in the door to door work.. from my years of associating with the borg i cannot recall many coming in the truth from the door to door work.. how were you sucked in?

for me it was my aunt who has now even though i am not disfellowshipped decided to write me out of her will to the tune of about $150,000.00 (maybe i should hang around a couple more years)dont think i will.. please respond .

True vs. False

there are so many religions and faiths out there, and they all seem to be nice, decent people, so how am i supposed to tell which one is true and which ones are false?

There is only one person who has the truth, aside from Jah.
That is Jesus.
No religion holds the truth, they are man-made organisations, originating from the world, NOT Jesus.
The Bible holds the answers.

No that Jesus himself has spawned a HUGE religion of course!

In 1st Thessalonians 4, Paul talks about those who are 'sleeping' as in death and the promise made to them. Verses 16 and 17 read:

(16) beacuse the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel's voice and with God's trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first. (17) Afterward, we the living who are surviving will, together with them, be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and thus we shall always be with the Lord.

We can see here that the dead, (in union with Christ), and the survivors, (i.e. after the Lord's return), will meet the Lord in the clouds.

In chapter 5:10 it reads:

He died for us, that, whether we stay awake or are asleep, we should live together with him.

Presumably, Paul is talking here again about those who die before the Lord returns ('asleep') and those righteous ones who are still alive after his coming.

Questions

Why did Christ die for us: Is not as 1st Thessalonians 5:10 says?

Does this mean that all christians dead or alive will inheret a heavanly paradise?

Oh, BTW, why didn't all of that happen in 1914?

WRONG. I think it is most unfair. By my reasoning, it was a setup and a complete staging of which Adam and Eve were victims. They were caught in the middle of Satan's evil little disobendient plan against the sovereignty of God's rulership.

Destroy Satan, Yes; Same punishment, definately not.
