Questions for those that believe in Electricity
by OnTheWayOut inyou can't see electricity or hear it or feel it.
well, there are sparks and lightning bolts and heating elements and the light and heat of filaments.
and somehow, it lights up neon in a tube.

The hum of transmission lines and transformers, the shock. You guys are just talking to me like I am ignorant of the obvious. You can't prove that it isn't the angels humming or that it's holy spirit that shocks you.
Cattle prods and electric fences- ha. You will probably tell me there's a device that can deliver electricity to a human body like through pads on the chest to get the heart jump started or some kind of gun that could shock a criminal suspect so you don't have to shoot him.
You know, such things are not mentioned in my holy book. Lots and lots of sheep herders had a hand in that book and if electricity were real, it would have said so right after it banned slavery.

You can't see electricity or hear it or feel it. Well, there are sparks and lightning bolts and heating elements and the light and heat of filaments. And somehow, it lights up neon in a tube. But it's all just a theory. You can't say where electricity comes from. It's all just a theory. Does electricity flow like water or is it a back-and-forth within a conductor? And how does anything travel inside solid wires.
I mean, when electricity is used, where does the used electricity go? We know energy cannot be created or destroyed, so not really knowing where it comes from and where it goes should be major red flags.
Tiny particles traveling at about the speed of light through wires. Yeah, right. The Bible never mentions electricity. I could go on and on with my problems with electricity. People think it's much better established than the theory of evolution, but it's not better established. Both are just observations and measurements that can be verified, but without any proof of what they are verifying actually existing.

What if we could bring down the WBTS?

I will speak in generalizations, so please understand that I get that many delicate situations will exist.
Any Branch Davidians left out there are nearly insignificant in comparison to the group they were. Any hardcore JW's that would find another JW group or even start such a group would be minor in comparison to the millions in the Watchtower now, were the organization to go away. Yes, we would have to have suicide watches and offer much help to "spiritually lost" members.
But it would all be worth it. The damage ending for children is worth quite a bit of trouble for adults that suddenly find themselves without "the truth."
I would hope that the problem is a huge scandal over money and upper echelon JW's scramble to steal the money and run away to third world countries.

My husband is awake, yay! We haven't been to meeting since February
So first of all- YAY! and YAY!
I read here and know, don't meet up! But my husband, ..............
....he is like... What's the big deal. It's all BS...I will tell them exactly what we said.... Hello! It's a bad idea right. It is a bad idea to meet up. The less crossing of paths, the better. But faders have to compromise until they finish fading out of there. (And great job on that, by the way.) But you need to be very very short and say very very little. I tend to agree with Clambake: "I would blow the whole meeting out of proportion use it as an excuse to just not attend anymore."
Here's what I would do, as the husband. (No point in the wife saying anything, as they are man-oriented.) On the phone, or in passing in an open Kingdom Hall (not at a meeting with elders), I would say, "We are fine, we don't need to meet with anyone."
Let them bring it up, as you try to say goodbye or walk away. "Oh, the college stuff? We honestly answered a few questions about our college experience from some people who asked and we did not promote any path for others."
Then if they want to say more, "You know, I told you what happened. That was it." I would not agree to meet and I would not say more. I wouldn't say out loud that they are stumbling me. If I lost my cool, I might just say, "This gossip and exaggeration is really upsetting me." Then I would walk away and not answer their calls or show up at the hall for quite awhile. I would probably turn in one hour of "service" for a few months in a row then drop it to nothing.
But that's me. They have only the power we give them.

If you steal a clean slate, does it go on your record?
If you were going to shoot a mime, would you need to use a silencer?
What if there were no hypothetical situations?
How is it that "Fat Chance" and "Slim Chance" mean the same thing?

Elders' Authority - Flock Book
by berrygerry inthe biggest surprise in the flock book was the hiding-for 3-years serious sin absolution provision for elders (if with "jehovah's evident blessing").. the second is the remark regarding an inactive person, and the situation:.
"is the person willing to meet with a committee, thus admitting accountability to the christian congregation?".
now, the bible says: i want you to know that the head of every man is the christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the christ is god.

All elders know that in Watchtower language, "a few years" means 3 minimum but allows for the elders to determine that more time is needed if the members still whisper about the man's deeds that got him removed.
"Is the person willing to meet with a committee, thus admitting accountability to the Christian congregation?"
There's one the Watchtower hoped the members would never read. So if an inactive member is not willing to meet, they are not accountable and the elders can drop the matter, but if he is willing to meet, then he could be pursued judicially. The answer is simple. DO NOT AGREE TO MEET!!!

Question for people who believe in Evolution
by ttte36 inthough school i did religious education and my teacher who was religious ruled out evolution because humans are the only creatures who do not want to die, can anyone who understands evolution explain this?.
im 99% on to the theory of evolution, this is just the last stumbling block..

If time itself only started at the point of the Big Bang, then the idea that a singularity existed forever or any concept of "before" the energy exploded have to be ideas to be dismissed and reworked. It's a very difficult concept, but one we have to deal with. The singularity wasn't there for a moment or any length of time because time did not exist.
What happened before, God knows.

You would have to clarify. Have you seen a rat break off it's tail to escape a trap? Have you seen a cornered animal fight for it's life? On the other side, have you seen a suffering human want to end their suffering?
Most animals, human or not, do not want to die. Please clarify.

Did God have a man to man talk with Adam?
by James Mixon ini wonder did god instruct adam about the no, no's in procreation and sex.. look adam i know you may feel a little odd, looking at the other animals.
having fun.
so i giving you a mate, but don't do like the birds, horses and .

In Genesis chapter 2, God has created the animals and asks Adam to find his suitable mate from among them:
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man… but for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God… made a woman… and he brought her to the man.
~ Genesis 2:18-22
Really. So Eve was created because Adam either did not like sex with the goats and sheep or wouldn't even consider it. I mean, this is quite the opposite from giving him a list of No No's. Wild stuff was okay with God, but not so much with Adam- he held out for something more normal. And now, who's to say what is wild or normal when it comes to sex with one's dedicated partner? Are you asking if God might have said, "Don't bend Eve over and screw her from behind?" What the hell is wrong with doing that? Nothing. Anal and oral sex- the only real indication that God doesn't like this stuff for man is that the Bible talks about not wasting the "seed." But that really had more to do with multiplying by having many babies. Oh, there's some writing in the New Testament against men with men and women with women, but nothing really in the Old Testament. It also goes on and on about men who were approved by God having multiple sex partners.
Maybe the idea of Genesis chapter 2 was that "women" were created especially for men to enjoy sexually and that was an indication that "nothing else" (like other men) was okay. But God having a talk with Adam about No No's getting his rocks off- HARDLY. It's more likely that Adam was encouraged to have sex with a horse and was not too crazy about God watching.
