Abolitionist Harriet Tubman will replace President Andrew Jackson on the US$20 bill
by oppostate in"it’s official: secretary of the treasury jack lew has announced that abolitionist harriet tubman will replace president andrew jackson on the $20 bill.
and, while jackson will still reportedly remain on the reverse side of the bill, the move is nonetheless a momentous one.. .
"naturally there are many people who will complain about this decision, but since tubman’s legacy leading slaves to freedom through the underground railroad is beyond reproach, these critics will most likely turn to defending jackson.

Money is money. I don't like that "In God We Trust" but I will still take bills that say it and spend them.
I don't see a problem putting different kinds of political heroes on the money. The USA is a "hero-history" nation. So if they rotate the heroes, so be it.

Assemblies are even more expensive now thanks to LDC
by Naoscillator inthe growing monster in the organization known as ldc is coming for your ice cream money, your children's ice cream money, and your children's children's ice cream money.
they also need the free skilled labor of all your future generations.. you know the outlandish figure read out mid-afternoon at the ca?
that represents a $10.00 per publisher charge for the privilege of using the assembly hall.

I have to say, it's like saying that elections are corrupt thanks to computers.
NO. It's the governments and politicians and party organizers that use the computers to corrupt elections.LDC is created by the Watchtower organization and is directed to be slower in building than RBC was.
Money is being put into Watchtower, no matter what pocket they tell the members it goes into.

Going Back To Meeting Tomorrow

If you have been gone so long that they will need to love bomb you, be careful. Popping up at an occasional meeting after a long absence can actually hurt a fade. It renews interest in you. If you must go, arrive late, sit in the back. Say hello to a few people at the end and make your way to the door.

AGREE? or DISAGREE? Popular Music

Beethoven and Mozart were considered radical in their day.
There's always been a generation gap in music from the time that people figured out how to make music evolve. So it's natural for older people to hate the music of younger people.
I tend to agree that the popular music of the 1960's was great and the harder rock of the 70's and 80's really emphasized the music more than the words, and the stuff afterward was catering to the demands of the masses.
But don't just hate or assume today's music is trash. There's more music for dance nowadays. There's still plenty of artists who can tell a story in comparison to the greats of the 60's. Tastes among groups causes such division, but rap has it's place as much as punk has it's place.

Pop music has always always always been a mix of dumb and good lyrics. There is more variety today, so there will be more dumb lyrics. But there are also good lyrics. Even some things that you or I would hate sometimes have great lyrics, sometimes it's just meant for others to "get it" and not for you.
I mean, are the lyrics to ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK something special?
How about ITSY BITSY YELLOW POLKA DOT BIKINI
or FLYING PURPLE PEOPLE EATER
Oh, I could go on and on about the stupid lyrics of songs at the beginning of your timeframe. I even like many of the things with stupid lyrics. Sometimes stupid works and the thing is awesome. Sometimes, we don't know WTF happened and why everyone is flocking to it. Other times, it just flops
I will just end with the terrible words that seem to make my point- 1957's AT THE HOP by Danny and the Juniors:Bah-bah-bah-bah, bah-bah-bah-bah
Bah-bah-bah-bah, bah-bah-bah-bah, at the hop!Well, you can rock it you can roll it
You can slop and you can stroll it at the hop
When the record starts spinnin'
You chalypso* when you chicken at the hop
Do the dance sensation that is sweepin' the nation at the hopAh, let's go to the hop
Let's go to the hop (oh baby)
Let's go to the hop (oh baby)
Let's go to the hop
Come on, let's go to the hopWell, you can swing it you can groove it
You can really start to move it at the hop
Where the jockey is the smoothest
And the music is the coolest at the hop
All the cats and chicks can get their kicks at the hop
Let's go!Ah, let's go to the hop
Let's go to the hop (oh baby)
Let's go to the hop (oh baby)
Let's go to the hop
Come on, let's go to the hop
Let's go![Instrumental Interlude]
Well, you can rock it you can roll it
You can slop and you can stroll it at the hop
When the record starts spinnin'
You chalypso* when you chicken at the hop
Do the dance sensation that is sweepin' the nation at the hopWell, you can swing it you can groove it

All the cats and chicks can get their kicks at the hop

Let's go to the hop (oh baby)
Let's go to the hop (oh baby)
Let's go to the hop
Come on, let's go to the hop
Let's go!Bah-bah-bah-bah, bah-bah-bah-bah

Evolution: The Deal Breaker
by Hadriel infirst off i do believe there are some evidences of evolution or i should probably say adaptation.
i do believe this exists in various forms.. however the deal breaker for me with evolution is the chick or egg problem.
there are tons of theories that get passed around as proof of evolution however these are usually examples much further down the evolutionary chain.. what i mean is let's start at the beginning!

I am not going to try to pick through things like DNA and experts vs. laymen understandings and all that stuff.
I will just say that anyone who chooses to say that the deal breaker is somewhere along the lines of refusing to believe something complicated came into existence from something less complicated, yet that same someone will accept that a "creator" did the exact same thing or was just always there, well that person needs to start over in their thinking.
Not in our lifetime, but somewhere in the distant future, man will see other life in the universe in various points along it's own evolution. They will see that the seemingly ridiculous odds of life succeeding are overcome in the laboratory of many planets. And it might even happen in a smaller laboratory on earth among scientists.
But even then, it will make some closed-minded people insist that life can come from lifelessness because of something God put there.

I am very much in your situation.
I have stopped going to meetings nearly 10 years ago, having a very successful fade with no judicial reproof and no more phone calls or texts or emails from the elders.
But my wife is a fully active congregation member. I am sure she is viewed as "weak" because she will miss a meeting here and there, but she "is fully brain doogled" and will defend them illogically and automatically if any news about child abuse or issues concerning them come up.
She doesn't care to understand silly things like "overlapping generation" and believes that young people should go to college, and won't say that "they" don't want people going, but leans upon her old understandings of "education with a purpose." My wife is intelligent, but turns her brain off when it comes to Jehovah's Witnesses. All she knows is that they don't celebrate pagan holidays, they are the cleanest and most honest people on earth, they are the only ones who proclaim God's name, and Satan blinds people to the real truth by using their desire to sin or be lazy about serving God.
Since she won't research or think deeply on any doctrine, I cannot penetrate her defenses. If you are in the SW United States, consider meeting others at Flipper's apostafest in July.

The point is that Watchtower gives a second fulfillment of the scriptures to arrive at the time when "this system of things ends" and since they are a doomsday cult, they only retain members if they set a doomsday.
All other doomsday dates have come and gone, and they need a new one without admitting they were wrong about the previous ones.
"Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened." So they change what "this generation" means. They may, in the future, change what "not pass away" means or even redefine whether those things "happened."
