Just like Armageddon, this Cubs victory is about 102 years late.
The Jehovah's Witnesses have much in common with the world of the last Cubs World Series victory.
It's probably even prophetic as everything prophetic in Watchtower Land seems to happen in or near October.
Just like the 1908 Cubs lived in a world with no Mother's Day or Father's Day, so the Jehovah's Witnesses still do today.
Just as probably virtually all major league baseball players in 1908 never went to college, so it is for the majority of JW's today.
The first Model T Ford was produced in 1908 and later, the 4 door sedan was to become the standard for all JW's.
Before taking the field that spring, the 1908 Cubs heard about something new in New York City- a 700 pound ball with a 5 foot diameter was dropped from a flagpole at Midnight to mark the start of 1908. JW's would have heard about that too and have learned to drop the ball all the time when it comes to the passing of time. (Okay, that one was a stretch.)
The practice of putting Gideon Bibles in hotel rooms was started in November of 1908 in Superior, Montana. The Witnesses have been trying for 100 years to put their Bible within arms reach of people since about that time, too.
And the greatest (and maybe most prophetic) thing the 1908 Cubs and the Jehovah's Witnesses have in common is that, after awhile passed without further victories, people started to feel for the Cubs and they even became the Lovable Losers. This actually created their fan base and has helped sell Cubs merchandise throughout the years. Many people feel sorry for the JW's because their precious Armageddon never gets here. While they don't really form a "fan" base, the same people who feel sorry for them often take their literature out of pity and give them a dollar.
