Everyone else I know seem bored or unintrested.
Did you know why elders and ministerial servants volunteer so much at assemblies? They get to walk around or go clean something INSTEAD OF PAYING ATTENTION TO THE PROGRAM, like they tell everyone else to do. I know, I admit it, I was one of them. The worst assignments are in parking, because you don't miss much of the program, but even there, you get to leave as everyone is falling asleep. The best assignments involve security attendants during the afternoon sessions.

Dozy, right on. I ditto your entire post. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. They gotta consider keeping some people at Bethel if they are fringe supporters. Ironic, wouldn't that be? If you are totally loyal, totally supportive of what they say, then you would be totally outta here. Those ones are probably the bulk of the new travelling overseers. Too bad there will never be actual statistics on who got the axe, who got reassigned, what influenced their choices.

around here, when i joined back in 1987, there were so many pioneers in the congregation and they were in the field service morning, afternoon and evening.
that lasted about 5 years, then it was a quick and steady decline in field service and a decline in building new halls.
I think they continued to make "MORE MONEY" up until the change to donations in the United States.
They were probably most active before 1975, although the hardcore preachers of the past (pre World War II) were probably out more than thoes of any other time. I came in in the late 80's, same as you, and there was a steady decline in activity. That decline certainly is speeding up in the last 10 years.

It becomes obvious that the only way to short-circuit this INTENTIONAL MISDIRECTION is to ask,
"Who will survive Armageddon?"
"All of humanity will have a complete opportunity to learn what God's purposes are for mankind, so that will be answered according to God's judgement. It is not our place to answer questions like that."
Spinning and not answering is a time-honored tradition. Intentional misdirection will continue.

my story is (of course) similar to everyone else's.
basically my mom became a jw when i was 10. my sister and i had to be in it with her, and i wanted to go along because i wanted to please jah...and have lots of furry animals in the new system.
Tough situation. This site is very much like free therapy. It helps to vent, and you find support. But, if we pry too much or someone goes on telling you what you should do about a situation, remember our advice was FREE, and sometimes you get what you paid for. It sounds like you are going to be alright.

Fortunately for all the JW missing their meetings now, the end won't come in their lifetimes, so they can be among the millions that are resurrected. Yes, what a waste of time in my life. PT Barnum, thanks for your insight. I won't be a sucker again.
