I'm a JW from Illinois, but near Chicago.
Someone here must be from St. Louis area.

i was thinking last night that the wts is acting suspicious like.
remenber the letter a few months ago to have emergency supplies ready and contact numbers ect.
then the end of religion tract, then the km on blood.
If you look back on the org's history you will find these same things have been done before just with different spins.
Also, many ex-JW's or doubters are looking at it with a different spin. If the end isn't just around the corner, why are they doing that?
i remember hearing many times from the platform, and especially the assemblies, that we had to give our valuable things to jehovah till it hurt - and if it didn't hurt, we weren't struggling enough.. especially contributions - did we give till we hurt or did we give out of our surplus?
they love to use the example of the widow's mite to guilt us.. one co said that "some people only give jehovah 10 hours a month!
" - can you imagine that?
Sure, I don't remember the "hurt" word, but I heard overseers saying, "Imagine only 10 hours a month, they spend more time reading a newspaper or watching television."
Contributions have always been stressed, but at least they were anonymous.

Your take on the facts is interesting. I have a different one- donations are down, they don't want to use THEIR money.
Emergency supplies- there have been several disasters in the last few years that tax the WTS funds.
Although the Bible doesn't include tsunami and hurricane in the sign, WTS acts like these are a sign
of the last days- so keep JW's thinking the end is right around the corner AND have them get ready
so they don't need as much aid as they used to. Keep more of the disaster relief funds.
The end of religion tract- same stuff about keeping JW's thinking the end is right around the corner AND
keep them busy with low-cost tracts instead of books.
Blood- They are going to face a slew of lawsuits over blood. In the future, they can say that it was a
conscience matter, JW's should have taken the treatment, it's their own fault.
i was wondering if anyone knew why the clergy wore dog collars?.
it bugs me when i see them walking around the shops with it on as in a look at me kind of way surely this is not a bible thing, the same goes for bishops etc and all the garb that they wear is this right.

Damned if they don't all follow the same pattern!!! I am sure in time the JWs would adopt a "look" of some sort that they would make mandatory.
How about the look JW's tried to have in the U.S.? No beards, and a white shirt only. Well, they have abandoned the white shirt policy but they still insist brothers always wear a jacket and tie. There's your dog collar.
As soon as I put in my elder resignation, I stopped wearing the jacket. I still wear a tie, don't want to alarm anyone.
i think i've outgrown confusedjw since i'm out three years now in fade.
(a while ago a mod asked me if i would like to change it and that got me thinking recently).
of course i could switch to confused or confusedexjw.
Maybe you could think of an acronym for Unconfused Ex-JW Boston Red Sox Fan, Who likes Hank Hill
Here's one try at it - HURSE
H- Hank Hill
U- Unconfused
R- Red
S- Sox Fan
E- Ex-JW in a long fade
That's just a one-minute attempt, you can do better
i mean, you could've been made to be an islamic fundamentalist or something, right?
Life after JW's-
You can get Shasta and half-frozen danishes on your own. I kinda miss the danishes, but most hotels with a continental breakfast have similar ones.

The Old Testament tells us to love and obey God, OR ELSE YOU WILL BE DESTROYED.
The New Testament tells us that God is love, ready to forgive. It is built on the foundation
of the Old Testament, though.
Jehovah's Witnesses returned to telling us to love and obey God, OR ELSE YOU WILL BE DESTROYED.
Then they added that God is love, ready to forgive.
Wherever you turn, whatever happens in the world, either God is love and ready to forgive, or
we don't know anything about God, life after death, the future of mankind.
In either case, live a good life, keep searching, fill your own spiritual need.
