  here is a quick summary, in august i turned in an elder resignation letter stating that i could not teach doctrine from the governing body because i did not "know" them at all, and i had doubts.

  when asked by the elders, i said the doubts spring from this generation and 1975. the elders took no action, waiting for mother to tell them what to do.

  would want to talk to me on his visit.. this week, our c.o.

  while the Society does not currently emphasize teaching that the creative days were 7,000 years long, what it does teach is consistent with that tradition. .............But I think that they've actually dumped the old idea, and are being cagey about saying so in order not to upset older JWs who stick with the old teaching out of habit.

  I think you are wasting your time on this 7000 year thing with this Co and a possible 'study'. Your never going to want to go through that crap if it comes down to it.

  All true. I never wanted to study with the elders, and I can never "win" a doctrinal argument with assimilated people. My response to the offer of a study is going to be quite clear- I was stumbled by the CO. Is that true, in reality? NO, I feel great that his true colors have been shown. As an elder, I would know better than to not even give the publisher a listening ear and a prayer to make him feel like the organization cares for him.

  I will have to proceed with my fade without the wife's support. She's just not ready for the deprogramming at full force. I will keep helping her along. I will continue to attend most meetings, but no preaching. That will eventually turn to SOME meetings. For the sake of the wife, I will go to assemblies, perhaps not staying the entire session. One day, I hope to say FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST.

  Thank all of you (if I forgot to name you, sorry). I have already said that I won't use this as a condition to study with 2 elders, they will just say they proved their point and I am stubborn. Instead, I will use the CO's so-called help as a major reason for my stumbling, and becoming inactive. I would share my letter of response with you-all, but I still need to be able to deny that OnTheWayOut is me. I will edit it and post the altered version here in a few days. Suffice it to say, I told my BOE what a person would normally receive from the CO when it appears that they are spiritually weak.

  They would get more than a few minutes of his time before going off to dinner with the spiritually strong, they might even get a prayer, they would certainly get an ear for close to an hour.

  I decline the study with two elders, because I am confident that I can look things up
  for myself and I think that that the CO, showing me that the rest of the congregation
  are more important to safeguard from the likes of me,
  will ask you if there is any amunition for a disfellowshipping.

  What basis for disfellowshipping/shunning?

  ok bear with me cos i am new to this and have lots of questions to ask.. what scriptural basis is given for disfellowshipping and shunning ie what scriptures are used to say this should take place?

  i seem to recall a scripture (hoping someone can jog my memory which one it is?

  ) about if a man wont accept counsel then to let him become as one of the men of the nations to you (or words to that effect?

  1st Corinthians 5:11 says

  But now I am writing YOU to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.

  This is used as the basis for disfellowshipping. It, of course, doesn't say to avoid talking at all to him, but it has been blown way out of proportion by the WTS, and used for so-called sins not listed such as apostasy.

  Why did the WT change their stance on taking blood fractions?

  if memory servces me, it was about 1978 when the questions from readers stated that blood fractions were a conscience matter.

  i remember being slightly shocked, and made the statement to my husband that it seems like taking a fraction however small would be akin to giving a "pinch of incense to the emporor.

  " i would never change my stance, or so i stated.

  i have recently had the first contact with the watch tower and jehovah's witnesses.

  i like the way of thinking, and of interpreting the bible.

  i always thought it should not be taken literally, and indeed some dilemmas in my head were solved after reading some publications and talking.

  I am so happy that you think you can find the answer quickly on the internet, especially here on this site. Yes, someone here is smart enough to know the exact answer to your question. The problem is that you have to decide who it is that gave the right answer.

  If you want the WTS answer, NO, until the issue of sovereignty is completely settled, Jehovah would not create life on another planet. Is that conclusive, NO, but you gotta follow what they currently teach if you want to join them.

  i was having a discussion with family about leaving the jw's recently.

  we were talking about the us verses them mentality one develops as part of the religion.

  i tried to bolster my case by saying that only jw's will survive armageddon.

  I just wanted to be sure on one point. Thanks all. I'm not going to use it though, they will
  say they DID prove it's not still our doctrine with vague answers, and I am the closed-minded
  stubborn one. As I stated, they might try to DF me for anything said in study, so I will just
  skip it.

  Still, comments/support on the meeting are appreciated. Thanks for your research.

  Thanks garybuss, I do have all the data about Adam & Eve from pre-1975 WT.
  I am pretty sure I don't want to bother with doctrine and 2 elders.
  If I make it past their APOSTASY ALERT, they will only try to DF me for
  what I say, and they have 2 witnesses.

  But, it would be fun if I wanted to go that way.
