What evidence would I provide?
It depends on the person and what they need to convince them. For the most part, I would steer people to the same kinds of places I went to, one primary internet site being jwfactsdotcom. If they need their hand held to guitde them, we could discuss changes in doctrine and policy, flip-flops on Bible understanding, or we could go to covering up the UN involvement and more current situations like hiding pedophiles.

Would you leave the Watchtower if you woke up at age 80 plus, or just stay in for the rest of your life.
by pistolpete inso yesterday while i was doing some work for a customer, i noticed the wt mags on the sofa.
and i asked the elderly man if he was a jehovah witness?.
he said that he and his wife and all his children were raised in the religion, but only he and his wife attend the meetings or zoom.

All his children had left the religion.
Well, hold on there a minute. At such a late stage in life, I might trade in my "friends" for a closer relationship with my own children. There just isn't enough information here. I could go along with my wife and "stay" if we had absolutely nobody else to turn to in order to, but even then- we would have each other.
Well-meaning friends are awesome, but I just don't think I could keep my mouth shut in order to have rides to the doctor or grocery errands from younger friends or people to spend time with. -

Why do some people who were trapped in the WT and wake up, still believe in the Bible God who allowed them to be deceived for years.
by pistolpete inwhy do some people who were trapped in the wt and wake up after much frustration and anger that they were lied to, still believe in the bible god who allowed them and their families to be deceived and trapped for years.
i have an acquaintance who is a lot older than me and for the past 30 years he has been out of the watchtower religion and is sola scriptura.
sola scriptura is a theological doctrine that posits the christian scriptures as the sole infallible source of authority for christian faith and practice.

I had a long answer but this forum dropped it.
I am right there with you Pistol Pete.
I turned my entire life over to "God" whoever he was in my young 20's when I had reached rock bottom in my life. Jehovah's Witnesses came in like vultures and took advantage of that.
If the God that Christianity describes were there, He would have intervened and recognized my sincerity to do "His" will. If He chose not to intervene, then I don't need to worship that.Taking the personal story out of it, the same can be said for the 2004 Indonesia Tsunami. If more than 200,000 people can be torn away from life, tens of thousands (probably greater than half of that number) being children, and God stands by- we don't need to worship that.

Accepting the reason why the Watchtower Corporation and its top leaders are endeavored to brainwash people
by Rocketman123 intaking a close look at the operation of the jws religion you can observe technics of brainwashing orchestrated through the literature the wts publishes for its members such as the watchtower .. everything these men have done had calculating agendas, which were to firstly attract attention to the literature they published, to cultivate power toward themselves, to intentionally take control over people's lives and of course draw in money.. brainwashing (also known as mind control, menticide, coercive persuasion, thought control, thought reform, and re-education) is the concept that the human mind can be altered or controlled by certain psychological techniques.
brainwashing is said to reduce its subjects' ability to think critically or independently,[1] to allow the introduction of new, unwanted thoughts and ideas into their minds,[2] as well as to change their attitudes, values and beliefs.

"Brainwash" is one of those words that instantly shuts people down.
If I tell a JW about brainwashing, they just know that they are able to think some for themselves and the idea is crazy to them.
Even here among people who are no longer in the religion, you will get arguments about the term.
Watchtower is a dangerous mind-control cult. But that's just as bad to say.Given the chance, I would start with "high control" group. And then I would use Steve Hassan's BITE method without identifying where it comes from.

When was your last Kingdom Hall meeting?
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini stopped going to kingdom hall meetings about nine years ago.
i was fading for the longest time, refused to go out in field service, dropped out of the ministry school talks, no longer answered at the watchtower study, arrived at the meetings the last second, and left as soon as possible.
i couldn't take attending the meetings any longer.

I went to my nephew's Kingdom Hall wedding about 3 years ago. I went to my father-in-law's "memorial" a few years before that. But I quit going to any regular meetings at the 2007 Memorial and I went to the 2008 Memorial one year later, and that is really the end of it.
I may attend a few more Kingdom Hall "funerals" or "memorials" to a family member, but it will depend on circumstances. -

Should I continue to help an "unbelieving" husband?
by RiverPeace ini know there are a lot of 'wise heads' out there on this forum - so i would appreciate your suggestions.. several years ago, i studied with a guy, whose wife is a jw.
(he had studied with several elders before i came along).
the study went reasonably well.

rather forcefully, told me not to send anymore anti-JW stuff.
I would stay away from it. He knows you left it. If he wants to know more, he will ask. -

Are Jehovah’s Witnesses Wrong Regarding Staying Out of Politics?
by minimus inwe were told we were part of the world if we got involved in politics.
if we had employment that had political involvement we were instructed to get another job.
we were told we might be considered disassociated if we voted and then it became questionable.
-
OnTheWayOut
I am tempted to say that anything the Witnesses claim must be wrong. I am ready to say that if the reason for staying out of politics is to serve the Watchtower instead, then of course it is wrong. If you are asking whether a Christian should stay away from politics and if the Bible really says that, I would say that it is uniquely a Watchtower doctrine that most of the rest of Christianity hasn't concluded.
But if you are really asking if the idea is right or wrong in general- If an individual decides to stay out of politics and not take sides on issues, that is their decision. I see that as a valid decision. But to insist that others do that is wrong. -

Progressives don't idolize people like people do in the Trump Cult.
Cuomo has said many of the right things, making him socially progressive. But when it comes to economics, he hasn't acted very progressive.
I know that is confusing to Trump worshippers. They know that he is lying to their face and always saying the right things that people want to hear and always doing what works best for him, his family, his contributors, and not doing whatever he said. They are confused by opposition criticism of Cuomo because Trump worshippers keep worshipping no matter what Trump says or does next.
