Ascetics down through ages have been obsessed with conquering the carnal instincts of man and see a clear divide between flesh & spirit. Flesh involving the so-called 'lower' instincts of man and spirit being the higher aspirations. A battle between these two opposing forces takes place daily within us, according to this philosophy.

To a degree, upon self-examination, I can see how this idea arose and there appears to be an element of truth there.

No doubt, masturbation when practised ritualistically or obsessively may lead to an imbalance within the mind and emotions, but occasional practise, I'm sure, does no lasting harm.

The key as always, appears to be balance.

Go for it - I'm sure most ex-JWs would fully support your project and would not be concerned with legal issues. Probably a good idea to ask them I spose. I'd love to see something like this put together, that old Jeremiah Films video is looking a bit dusty nowadays.

i saw these books in my parents' theocratic library and wondered if they should be there - i'm not sure about all the titles and names i just managed to scribble them down:.

the two babylons (i do remember they had this one from back in the 70s).

The information drawn from the texts credited to Josephus concerning Jesus seem very suspicious to me.

Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man IF IT BE LAWFUL TO CALL HIM A MAN, for he was a doer of wonders, A TEACHER OF SUCH MEN AS RECEIVE THE TRUTH WITH PLEASURE. He drew many after him BOTH OF THE JEWS AND THE GENTILES. HE WAS THE CHRIST. When Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men among us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him, FOR HE APPEARED TO THEM ALIVE AGAIN THE THIRD DAY, AS THE DIVINE PROPHETS HAD FORETOLD THESE AND THEN THOUSAND OTHER WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT HIM, and the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day (Antiquities 18:63-64).

Doesn't it seem a little odd that Josephus would then go about his business and remain within his own faith and ignore this wise man who he proclaims to be "the Christ" and not dedicate a few chapters to the subject? Surely this would warrant an investigation, especially as Josephus appeared to be a prolific writer and 'a thinker'.

Why Christians use this passage is beyond me, it seems like a clear case of falsifying the records.

SHOCKING!

i just managed to see the last 15 minutes or so of the 'tonight with trevor mcdonald' programme on british tv.

it concerned young children under 12 who had their blood tested and it was found they all had (at least those i saw) high levels of toxic chemicals in their blood.

one family ate organic produce and were generally the "healthy" type and yet their daughter had the highest levels of certain chemicals than others in the study.. a toxicologist said that although the chemicals were high we shouldn't worry too much as they are twice as high in the usa!!!.

There are other things beyond food to concern ourselves about as well (he says sitting before two monitors!) - like the magnetic fields we have cast around ourselves creating a harmonic imbalance.

We are creatures who exist within vibratory energy fields and sadly, even at that level we are being affected daily (mainly in cities).

We are out of balance and the world we are constructing around us is the outworking of the collective consciousness and it's diseased state. Something will eventually give. Either the source of all things will say 'enough' or we will cast ourselves into another destructive downwards spiral (which I can already see taking place).

Civilization will fragment again. We appear, as humans, to exist within cycles that always end in destruction and then rebirth.

they might read the wts own literature though.

I had two burly brothers at my door two days ago - didn't recognize who they were and just didnt fancy the conversation. Can't be bothered, they'll have to work it out for themselves.

Had a sister babbling behind me on the bus today - again, didn't know her, and part of me felt like sparking up a conversation and then I just thought.... nope, no point.
