  evolution or creation? lets talk...

  ok, lets have a discussion about where we all came from, evolution or creation?

  (or whatever you beleive in of course) every one put down there main reasons, along with reasonable facts and backup as to why.. .

  hopefully this doesnt start to many arguments, lol.. .

  I tend to believe what really, really clever people have researched and offered proof and evidence for.

  So you are willing to place your faith in anothers research on the basis that " these ones " appear to be clever.

  How would you define intelligence?

  There never has been conclusive evidence presented to show cross-species evolution and to say that there wouldn't be because this process may take millions of years is a fine theory, but hardly objectively proven.

  I would suggest that you do not take for granted everything the secular rationalists say as absolute.

  Who's giving out candy this Halloween?

  yeah, so this year, for the first time ever, ever, ever, my roommates and i are having a halloween party, and there will be much candy given out to the small army of children on our block who will no doubt be trick or treating.

  i'm really looking forward to it.

  has anyone ever thought of getting all costumed up on halloween and then hitting all of the elder's houses?

  Please don't patronize me - I believe what I believe. Perhaps you need to take somethings a little more seriously yourself? There are a selection of videos available online through Google videos called " The Century of the Self " - take a look, you may then understand how you are being treated a little bit more clearly.

  Read a few books instead dear boy or feel your way through the universe and decide.

  Myself - a bit of both - creation & evolution do not have to cancel each other out. One can exist with the other hand in hand.

  I consider myself a Panentheist (look it up).

  ..and then sought to justify your leaving the organisation/religion by researching websites like this (to salve your conscience, justify continuing in your pleasurable but unscriptural lifestyle), or did you sincerely leave purely because you discovered certain false teachings, scandals, etc, while still living a moral, christian lifestyle?

  Nope - not exactly.

  I was subjectively speaking a naughty boy and broke a few rules. But nobody knew, and out of an act of conscience I walked away and never went back.

  During this time period, I did not try to dis-assemble the belief system - I was still 100% convinced of "the truth" and planned to return one day.

  A while later I went down the list of dos & donts and straightened my pathway; planning to sort myself out and return fulltime at some point. Then I began to study the literature again and referenced articles on the internet and spoke to a few ex-JWs. Certain things didn't make sense and I found that I did not feel the same way about the organization. So, here I am several years later.

  To clarify - yes, I was naughty, but no, I did not cease to believe or try and strip the belief system apart for several years.

  It is a broad generalization to think that everybody who walks away does so to become a drug taking, whore seeking, sociopath.

  did any of you do something really naughty and forbidden after you left the wts?

  i waited almost 6 months, then realized i could smoke because there wasn't anyone to tell me what i can and can't do, so if i wanted to, i could smoke......so i did.

  it wasn't long until i began to regret doing that.

  People say its hard to quit and if you believe that, you are likely to fail. Just meditate and tell yourself "this is easy" and believe it to be so. Walk away and don't look back.

  I still can't work out why anybody JW or not would want to celebrate this event. Not everything labelled as 'fun' is necessarily 'fun' ...

  Encouraging kids to go around the neighbourhood asking for sweets and wearing stoopid death costumes is retarded and holds no real meaning. It is not as if most people actually understand the origin of this event and if anything, the modern day incarnation is nothing but a means to an end for marketing people.

  I sometimes think ex-JWs jump head first back into Christmas & Halloween as way of flicking a V sign at the WatchTower Society. Kind of like the way I said f ** k you and smoked a cigar a few years ago, just to break the mental chains, but my rebellion had nothing to do with truth, but more to do with a cathartic exercise of taking back control.

  i didn't say "unmotivated" or "lacking direction" or any of the other euphemisms i typically apply to it.

  i said what i meant, and i do mean it.. but i can't imagine it has to be this way.

  I'd rather not answer, because they wouldn't like me, they would just try to persuade me that concepts I used to believe are still truth. I also have given up trying to persuade individual witnesses of my alternative vision - too much wasted energy.
